Prom, I've just found out that our local police station is closing down (only the whole of Dartmoor relies on it), so yes please, let's recruit some feisty grannies.
One of them could be Ann Widdecombe, she lives round the corner (so to speak in these parts).

You might have more luck with Ann Robinson. She's scary enough on the TV never mind in person 

But she's a pussycat in real life, Ann has no compunction about looking like shoite, but living her life.

I hate her. Tiny vocabulary and terrible diction but she gives it the big one and the contestants have to play along with it. AND, she's got no ladybumps  Damn her to hell I say

What's even better, is that she actually thought someone was getting a beating from them, when she initially saw them, rather than just some baubles getting nicked, but she was still prepared to wade in!
