Suffia- Sophia?
Ciaroin- Ciaran/Kieran
Nearly all Irish names outdate their english form, in X-Factor the subject of Eoghan name was a major taking point and more-so it's spelling, however Eoghan is the original spelling of the name.
Thank god the English got in touch with modern times then! But really even if the names 'pre-date' their English form they are still stupid and ancient.

In your opinion perhaps....Most certainly not in mine nor I am sure many other Irish folk who may not take kindly to their heritage being slated.

But it's all right to slate the English and every other culture and heritage?

I take it you are supporting the Brazilian fella?

I saw a jokey thread about daft names, rather than an entire culture/heritage/whatever being slated.
Talk about knee jerk reaction.......

I had a feeling this thread would end up like this.

well said. Some people thought me 'racist' the other day when I said the Irish got on my nerves. That is not true at all. They are just oh so superior and think they are better than everyone else.

He looks a bit too geighish and generally 'nice' for me, even if he does have lovely teeth.

He is a bit Bob Down, but I'm liking him so far.
Penny Gabrielwise (Guest)
I might have to youtube him. Still, his name's not too difficult to spell.

Absolutely not nor have I ever done so...,.TBH it's happened time and time again on BBGF Irish names and language being mocked and to be quite honest I doubt it would have been tolerated if it had been directed at any culture.

You're not on Channel 4. Someone once asked me if Buenos Aires was the capital of Brazil over there. Am I still going on about it? Yes, I suppose I am. Oh shite!

I think SuziQ is talking about the OP who does slate the English most of time from what i have seen

And God help you should you ever post the words 'Linda' and 'Nolan' within a 50 mile radius of her...... She'll accuse you of saying she's lying, because she's Irish.quote:Originally posted by Sink the Pink:quote:Absolutely not nor have I ever done so...,.TBH it's happened time and time again on BBGF Irish names and language being mocked and to be quite honest I doubt it would have been tolerated if it had been directed to any culture

I don't agree with the OP about her comments on people' names - I think it's culturally insensitive but I also take umbrage at Wandawitch's comments as they are also bigoted.
Both IP and WW are as bad as each other and here is not the place to hold your petty disputes this coming from an Irish woman living in England having grown up with an unusual name that was a source of ridicule to both Irish and English people

Most of the Irish FMs on here are fabulous, but the OP is kinda blinkered.
Fracas, I admit I am pro-Irish but if you take a look at my previous forum posts none are slagging off the English in any way, I urge you to look at them and point it out to me.

I wouldnt know who the Irish FM's are tbh unless they put their location, but the OP is proud to be so and nothing is wrong with that, but considering that most FM's i think are from the UK she isnt very tactful

What about the one about the rugby players and the Queen or something like that? That was a cracking bit of anti-English sentiment there. Quite a few other posters in this thread have come in and had a pop because you have a reputation for breathtakingly bigoted threads. You are young and indoctrinated, so maybe it is the arrogance of youth and you'll open your mind a bit as you get older

If you go back and read my posts it was anti-Royal Family and a lot of English people agreed with me. I don't have a problem with English people, I am friends with a lot of them in University and it wasn't me whop turned this thread into an anti-Irish thread or anti-english thread.

Fracas I really don't have anything against English people or England, but I just totally disagree with the Royals.
Also to clarify, I wasn't intending to cast a judgement over particular groups or nationalities but it annoys me when people try to be eccentric or individual by spelling their names differently to how it is supposed to be spelt and then like Angel- wtf? I can't explain what I meant by my initial post, so I'll say nothing more about it because I'm damned if I do and dammed if I don't.
