Turned up at my Slimming world class and it wasn't on!!!! So annoyed as when I weighed myself at home I'm exactly the same as I was on the last weigh in (around the 17th) ......................not sure how 'good' I can be tonight TBH - have a few people round and the buffet and nibbles are calling my name ....already had a few handfuls of peanuts and the cheese looks divine

You got plenty a time yet, I don't write my new one out till New Years Day PM

I have to find mine

Unbelievably both mine and Mr Woos's calendars are up. Mr Woo's is a practical one mine is from my sister and has a little poem on each page re sisters.

I decided this year that I would hang them in the lounge both beside where we respectively sit and here we take phone calls etc. I'm thinking that for once we might be a bit organised.

my lovely Meercat calendar will go in the kitchen (by the phone there)

In all probability, yes! We recorded the latter parts to disc and are looking forward to more belly laughs the neet, marra, yer mon,  rippling, rippling, rippling, like a flapping overlapping of soft flames, soft as feathers, running to points of brilliance, exquisite and melting her all molten inside m'lady.... etc.

(see what I did there?)

Did they manage to save him?

Sadly not  He was dead when they found him so God knows how long he lay there needing help

God that is so sad

I received a letter from my cousin yesterday - she had been going through her dad's belongings as he died last year. She found my grandfathers old military papers and forwarded them (we had/have different grandfathers).

He was a Royal Marine - joined up in 1911 served for 17 years - seems he lied about his age (my dad always told me that) - in his papers his d.o.b is 1893 - he was in fact born 1895.

Very nostalgic handling a document over 100 years old, Beautiful copper plate writing. Unfortunately it isn't in very good nick and therefore quite difficult to read. Lovely to have it all the same.

That reminds me. I have to apply for my FIL Bomber Command clasp. I found Jeremy Vine quite heartwarming today. They did a bit about the last surviving member of the '39 club who died yesterday. When we saw his name as Fripp we both looked at each other, wondering if he was a relation of Bob. Sure enough Bob gave a really lovely tribute with lots of anecdotes. Obviously they had to play some of his music and King Crimson probably isn't appropriate for the audience. So they played Bowie's Heroes. Apparently Bob played all of the guitars. You learn something every day!

I listened to that too, it was great! I promptly tuned out once Steve Shite came on at 2.

Soozy, you should be able to purchase a legible copy of the military records if you wish.  You could try www.nationalarchives.gov.uk  or there are websites you can view and download from but they may have a joining fee.
