Comic Relief vows to end investments to arms, alcohol and tobacco firms after independent probe looks at where the money goes

  • Charity has pledged to be 'more transparent' with its cash
  • Follows BBC Panorama investigation into its share dealings
  • It found millions were pumped into 'booze, bombs and fags' funds
  • Critics said the investments contradicted the core aims of the charity
  • Results of probe into Comic Relief's investments are published today
  • The charity says it will take on board all of inquiry's recommendations

According to Comic Relief's accounts from 2007 to 2009, it placed millions in 'blue-chip' City funds that in turn invested in the firms, including ÂĢ2.7million in three tobacco firms in 2009.

It is currently sitting on a ÂĢ100million fund donated by the public despite promising to hand ‘every pound’ straight to good causes in its annual broadcasts.

Exactly!   I don't understand why her dressers don't sort that out - the queen does that

When not on my laptop I use my smart phone for browsing the internet. I have to open up on google search. They tend to put either small pictures or text on the opening page.

Today's message is....can you spell Triskaidekaphobia?

Well, yes because you have just spelt it for me

For those of you are even slightly interested it means...a fear or a phobia concerning the number 13.

I hope that has enlightened your day

It's enlightened mine Moonie    Its good to know the name for it, as there is no flat 13 at my building, it just goes 12 > 14 !!!

It used to be shipping offices, so maybe its sailors' superstition.

The Chinese are prone to Triskaidekaphobia. I was once in a a high-rise building where there they completely left out the 13th floor

I was born on the 13th so it doesn't bother me

Yes there were lots of floors above. The lift buttons skipped from 12 to 14 than carried on as normal.

How very weird

14 is 13(floor wise) no matter how you look at it

Very weird . Apparently its not traditionally unlucky, but a western superstition they've adopted. It was Hong Kong where I saw it. The Chinese are very into auspicious things though aren't they?
