We've had some really lovely weather lately.  I love getting out and about in it.  We only walked around the beach, park and a little bit of town but I feel like I've been to an exercise class, I am knackered

Take it easy Ells

b.t.w. the countryside and beaches near you are beautiful

Good luck with the lesson Jenstar!

By a strange coincidence my mother decided that she wanted to see the sea yesterday. It's about an hour away from her. Alas! The dog descended and our first view at Carlin How was obliterated, as as the whole coastal route. We couldn't see much off the top of Lythe Bank, and it was only at Sandsend where the road runs by the beach that we had a good view. Of course it was Goth week in Whitby and it was packed. The outfits seem ever more colourful nowadays. Lots of greens and deep reds as well as the usual
Purple trimmings. Nice to see people even older than I dressed up too.

Was gonna say knock 'em dead... err maybe not

hopefully not

I had driving lessons many many years ago. Gave up in the end. I knew I wouldn't/couldn't make a good driver, even if I got as far as taking my test and actually passing(no chance)

Road rage on legs/wheels I would have been

 Likewise moonie !

I did an intensive driving course, passed second time... never drove again.

I took many lessons when my youngest was a baby.  I could just never get the hang of it though.  I would zone out on lessons (watching the scenery or thinking had I got everything I needed for the baby before the shops shut) so would end up having to snap back to reality pretty quick and that's when I realised I couldn't trust myself to drive.  I'd love to have the freedom to drive though because my OH uses the work van most days so the car is just sitting there but I really do not trust myself.

Oh and my reaction times are shocking.  When my kids were toddlers and I see them take a stumble, instead of jumping up to catch them I'd cover my eyes and scream.  Useless, I am!

Rog, I did think of doing an intensive course but decided learning bit by bit would probably be better for me

My friend started an intensive course weeks and weeks ago and said the instructor said she'd be passed within 6-8 weeks (which was why it was so expensive) but she hasn't mentioned it since.  Either she is waiting on her test, has done it already, or he's talking shite and is still having her out on lessons.  Either way, it's been about 8 weeks since she started, more even.

The prices were comparable Ells, When i totted up how much 1-2 lessons a week would cost for the amount I'll probably need + theory test and practical test car hire + the practical test fee.... The Intensive courses weren't really much more and you be on the road quicker. But i did read about some of them meaning car sharing and stuff and being a bit scammy... Plus i figured bit by bit would sink in more

Well done Jen sounds like you did good

The intensive course lasted a week - almost 9-5 pm per day. The driving school teamed three learners together, to cut our costs. So when one was driving, we were in the back looking and learning. After I failed, did a few more hours and passed, luckily.

Your way is better. I only chose intensive because I'd no car to practice in outside lessons and thought I'd forget stuff.

Best of luck!

I should have learned to drive ...................I know I'd be a danger to myself and others though. No spatial awareness and no sense of direction - bit impulsive too.

Soooooo I had to get the bus back from town today. The bus station has been having a major overhaul so I've been using a temporary bust stop on a nearby street since the end of January. All the buses have been diverted to different streets surrounding the bus station.Today that bus stop is all boarded up and it says use stand F .......no instructions or info where stand F is.  Someone said .......I think it's that one up by Iceland so ..I trotted off up the road - the bus stop had no lettering on it. When a bus came along (not mine) I asked the driver where was F stop. He told me it was right back at the bus station (in the other direction).

I rushed to the bus station (we only get one bus an hour) - there were about 6 guys all in their uniforms smiling and joking .............'ooh here you are love - are you for the No 3 - you get on here'. I was fuming ............I never speak out but I said 'Why can't one of you be at the closed down bus stop directing - it's all very well telling me that this is the stop I need once I'm here - what good is that .........there's six of you stood here.'

I can't believe that I really am turning into a grumpy old woman. When I got on the bus some old dear said all sanctimoniously 'Well it was in the local paper'.

I snapped back 'Well I don't get the bloody paper'

Rant over ................I'm still mad though

I don't think you are turning into a grumpy old woman. (mind, you should have taken your test about 40 years ago).

I did ..............and failed. Years later I had another one in an automatic and failed again .........honestly I really don't think I see things like most others do and don't even get me started on going backwards. You can explain it over and over again and I'm like

I hate failing at anything and failing those two tests really upset me - I just can't tell you.

I'm not pretending that I have no regrets - my life may have been very different but it is what it is. TBH - my kids beg me not to learn to drive if I ever mention it - they are terrified at the thought of their mother behind the wheel. I have skills and knowledge in lots of areas but driving a car isn't one of them.

ITV's revamped breakfast show Good Morning Britain is utterly awful, it looks cheap and nasty.  The presenters are crap (apart from the lovely Richard Arnold) and the rolling news along the bottom goes out obviously unchecked. This morning it read 'A 61 one year old'

It seems that every time ITV try to improve their breakfast show they just make it worse.
