Unknown (to me anyway) British athlete wins Gold at World Indoor Championships this evening:

From what i can gather he only competed because a higher ranked runner pulled out of our team - but given the chance on the world stage he smashed his own best ever time in the heats, the semis and for a third time in the final when it really mattered!

Britain's Richard Kilty produced a stunning run to win 60m gold at the World Indoor Championships in Sopot.

The 24-year-old held off a field including Nesta Carter, the fifth fastest man ever over 100m, and much-fancied American Marvin Bracy to win in a personal best time of 6.49 seconds.

"I can't believe it. This is a dream come true," said Kilty.

RE: Ant & Decs Saturday Night Takeaway.

Do you ever get the feeling that all these 'so called' surprises are actually scripted & rigged. The supposedly random people they pull from the audience, and even the celebrity stunts, the people just do not looked shocked enough for it to ring true .... kinda spoils the whole thing, imo

I don't know whether to laugh or cry, it's tragic.

I laughed and then cried.

ETA. I wish they wouldn't redact the people out. The need to know the world is laughing.

Good point.

You can't beat a good piece of redaction. I'm sure the culprits will be made known amongst their own kind.

Freestyle skier, Rowan Cheshire, following the training accident that left her hospitalized with concussion on Sunday! TeamGB have not ruled out the possibility that Cheshire could still compete later in the weekâ€Ķ

TeamGB have decided that Cheshire won't compete. Not enough time between the injury occurring and her event starting appears to be the line - which seems reasonable... and at 18 i'm sure her long-term potential would alo be a consideration.

Out supporting her male Freestyle teammates who competed today.

TeamGB in the half-pipe following their final practice session on Wednesday. A nice touch that both skiers are fully attiredâ€Ķ even though only bib 21 Emma Lonsdale will now be competing.

The unassuming Emma Lonsdale made her 2 runs on Thursday – described by BBC Sport as “safe” she failed to reach the final. The 9 times British champion seemed pleased though – competing at the Winter Olympics in her sports inaugural appearance had been the ambition – she showed support for her injured team-mate and also announced her own retirement from the sport. Job doneâ€Ķ

Until I saw the bruised and bloodied pic of Rowan Cheshire on the BBC Sports site last Monday I had neither heard of her or Freeski half-pipe. I’ve now seen a little of the sport and found it quite exhilarating to watch. They say Cheshire is very goodâ€Ķ hopefully we get to see her fly in the future!

Unlucky No.7 pictured while training on the evening of her accident. It seems she overcooked a flip – so instead of descending the wall of the half-pipe on her skies she plunged face first straight into the basin.

4h

Less than 2 weeks after my crash & my face is nearly fully healed! Head and back still not 100% but I'm getting there

That tweet fails to mention the nose fracture and on-going treatment for concussion.

Rowan and her mother appeared on BBC Radio Stoke on Friday morning to discuss Rowans Olympic experience. Hopefully she won’t get carried away by this media frenzyâ€Ķ

While most of the Team GB Olympic skiers/boarders have now headed to Europe or the USA for training and to conclude their competitive winter season injured Rowan C just seems to be chilling with friends in Alsagerâ€Ķ.

And making new friends... according to this pic that she Tweeted this morning:
