Coronation Street star suspended over masked rap video

Chris FountainFountain said the videos had been made "over a year ago"

Coronation Street actor Chris Fountain has been suspended by the soap after being exposed as a masked rapper who posted strongly worded videos online.

The YouTube clips purportedly showed him rapping about raping women and committing violent acts in the guise of his alter-ego 'The Phantom'.

An ITV spokesperson said the content was "totally unacceptable", adding that the 25-year-old had been suspended.

In a statement, Fountain apologised for any offence he had caused.

"I am deeply ashamed by the lyrics and very much regret my behaviour," said the actor, who plays Tommy Duckworth on the show.

"The videos were made over a year ago when I was experimenting with music and I've not done anything like it since, nor will I."

The clips, which are no longer available to view, featured Fountain wearing a Halloween mask, miming stabbing motions and claiming he was "bored with fame".

His involvement in the videos was revealed in Friday's edition of The Sun, which claimed it had brought them to the attention of his employers.

"ITV find both the language used and the views expressed in this video totally unacceptable," said the ITV spokesperson.

"Chris Fountain has been suspended pending further inquiries into this matter."

My Mum found out that my sister (who I don't get along with but who my Mum is very close to and who my Mum has taken sides with in many a family argument) was pregnant after she announced it on facebook and then my aunt rang my mum to congratulate her (more like get the gossip from her).  Not only was she pregnant but she was also nearly 7 months gone. She wasn't even showing because she was just a wobbly shape anyway because her youngest kid wasn't even 1 yet.

I can empathise with you Cinds. I had (and I stress had) a close friend who did not tell me he was to become a father until the baby had been delivered weeks. He did this not just once, but twice, with two different women!

He is no longer a friend and blocked in my mobile phone!

Ells that's horrendous!

EC I have past friends who I have cut out of my life, some people you just don't need. Mine was because I discovered that when I was expecting Master C this so called friend was telling anyone that would listen that I wasn't actually pregnant but just making it up for attention.

I'm not going to say anything and just wait to see how long it will take before get actually get told. I'll hazard a guess that I'll get told around the time they're   expecting me to put my hand in my pocket to buy something for the baby.

Forgot to mention this earlier.  You know the way we've had a thread asking if we are burning candles....what scent? Or something like that?  Well at this minute I'm burning a scent called Monkey Farts and it's lovely!!  It has a faint banana smell mixed with nice scents of clean, fresh ummm tones?  It comes from a lady on my facebook who sells simmering salts and I've got 3 other scents off her.  Sun washed linen is my fav so far and my mate is having a scents 'party' (the woman will come to her with loads of samples and we'll buy, then she'll go and we'll get drunk) next week so I'll get to try some more.

I wish we had 'smellovision' so you lot could smell the Monkey Farts.

Would love to see some of your niece's drawings.

Let's hope they can develop the talent

I will see if I can scan them or photograph them. I don't have many. She used to make me a birthday card each year with an original drawing on the front and an inscription inside. I kept them

I will never let my OH take the boys to the barber without me accompanying them EVER again.

He let my 7 year old get a Neymar haircut!  It looks ridiculous   The wee one loves it though so I'm letting him keep it until next weekend when it'll be cut properly for school.

I can't upload a pic until I  find the lead for my phone but this is what Neymar's hair looks like:

I was mortified taking him shopping today.  He was shouting 'get me out of the rain, my hair's getting ruined'.  I'm sure people were thinking it was too late for that.
