They don't help their cause do they, well a tiny minority don't.
They were round here earlier, I think there were more police than protesters
I agree with their plight, it sent shivers down my spine when I thought of the amount of money I'd need to get my son through Uni in a few years. Now I'm a student myself (albeit a mature, wrinkled one), I might have to pay next year and I don't think I'd be able to afford it and it's gonna screw up my degree.
They want a Great Britain but how is it encouraging the next generation to make it Great?
The Tories are taking the proverbial as per!

Ooooh it's starting to kick off! Wish I was there
Why don't they see that it is possible - and more effective - to protest without criminal activity.
It is best done without commiting harm or damage.
Some don't seem to be able to resist getting carried away.
Some of course do it for the sheer hell of it and do not necessarily sympathise with the demonstration.

Shut up you insubordinate person You are not supposed to agree
Usually the majority of the people that kick off are professional protesters....you see them at anything that they think may kick off.

Agree.Alot of them are professionals who go to these sort of protests merely to cause mayhem and be violent. Anarchists alot of them are who wouldn't know what a hard day's work was. I have nothing against them protesting and don't have any particular views on what they are protesting about. Do it peacefully though or feel the strong arm of the law and be punished.
These students are actually protecting this police van from the rent-a-mob.
Good on them. I am sure there are legitimate protesters there who are disappointed and ashamed that their protest has been hijacked by these idiots.
That picture says so much, I love it

Bit of a generalisation if I may say so. These are people who are getting anarchists a bad name.
Aww, it's good to see revolting students!
ference:
As for giving anarchists a bad name, I think they do that themselves perfectly well.

Why is it a generalisation? I didn't say all of them, I said alot of them.As for giving anarchists a bad name, I think they do that themselves perfectly well.
A true anarchist wouldn't believe in any state involvement in education, or anything else, surely?

That's my take on it Lilibet. Alas! I have never been middle-class enough to join Class War.
Well, i still had to pick my daughter up from the protest.
oh, some of them are back outside now

Quite. Anyway, Gove just said on the news 'it's a pity that people feel the need to demonstrate in a Democracy'. Last time I looked demonstrations were still legal in this country. Mind you, porbably not for much longer.

Which uni do you work at, Saz? I probably do know, but have forgotten
Birkbeck, according to the news there were 1000 of them outside earlier... they were pretty noisy, and had acquired a drum since the last lot of protests

Some of the secondary youngsters from round my area went. I think it is great! We have had a whole generation of youngsters who didn't seem to care about anything and here are these young people demonstrating about something they feel passionate about.
Good for them.

I agree issy. I despaired at students being so a political, bring it on.

I'm glad you agree Cologne, I don't approve of the violence but its great to see youngsters CARE about something en masse.Reference:

But they're still painted in a bad light. No matter what kids do these days they'll always be reported as an inconvenience. Not fair on those who genuinely give a shit about their lives or education. Conveniently, these people don't mentioned or praised.Reference:

I don't either Issy. Unfortunately it's an easy way to turn students into criminals and divert from the very real objectives.Reference:

they had! It was dead hard to concentrate with them chanting and drumming away

No they don't.And there are so many young people out there doing all sorts of good stuff. I was furious when their protest got hi jacked last time. But the president of the NUS acted with such integrity and dignity over the whole thing.I think our younger generation is just fine.
actually, come to think of it, they didn't have the drum when they came back.... wonder if it was flung at the police or summat
Good luck to them. They were shafted by the Lib Dems at the election and were shafted by Labour previous to that. As for the Tories, students are wise not to trust them in the first place.
The debts students will now accrue are ridiculous. I actually support the principle of student fees and don't see why students shouldn't have to pay something for their education and greater earning potential but ÂĢ9,000 pa is just crazy and is going to stop a lot of able but poor people going.
