Steve Backshall

BAFTA-winning naturalist and TV presenter Steve Backshall has become the latest name confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing 2014.

Throughout his career, Steve has undertaken death-defying confrontations with some of nature’s fiercest creatures; he’s been diving with great white sharks, caught a king cobra, handled a red back spider and been bitten by crocodiles.

Steve also presents the spin off series, Deadly Pole to Pole, in which he explores some of the most extreme environments our planet has to offer.

Steve said: “My day job filming wildlife in jungles and swamps is nothing like as scary as what is ahead. I think Strictly Come Dancing is going to be my wildest challenge by far!”

Steven is the ninth of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing 2014 contestants to be confirmed for this year’s line-up and will be joining Eastenders’ Jake Wood, Casualty actress Sunetra Sarker, TOWIE’s Mark Wright and Blue’s Simon Webbe.

Also confirmed are rugby hunk Thom Evans, This Morning’s Alison Hammond, Tennis ace Judy Murray and The Saturdays’ Frankie Bridge.

They’ll all join six other celebrities as they compete for the coveted glitter ball trophy.

Having looked through the list of celebrities I have to say I am quite underwhelmed.

So far I can't pin my colours to one of them as they are mostly not really heard of or just meh!

So it looks like Steve Backshall so far as he looks the most interesting.

^ Frankie Bridge is lovely, she's been in the spotlight most of her life but only a couple of years ago revealed she suffered for years with terrible anxiety & depression. Her bravery in speaking out led to an invitation to work with the charity mind, and earned her a lot of respect

Is she nice?

If you mean Caroline Flack, she hosted the IACGEMOOH equivalent of BOTS. I'd say she's quite quick witted and, for the boys, good on the eyes.  I reckon she could be a decent dancer.

Isn't she the one that had the thing with Harry Styles?

Sad about the miscarriage.

Hope he has more between his ears than Kelly's current beau.
