Strictly Come Dancing final to be fought out by four couples for the first time

5 Dec 2012 00:01

WITH six celebrities left in the competition, four will make it through to the showpiece final which will take place just three days before Christmas.

FOUR couples will contest this year’s Strictly Come Dancing final – the biggest number of celebrities yet to compete for the prized glitterball trophy on the last night.

Eight of the previous nine series of the BBC show saw three celebrities battling it out in the final.

And in 2009, there were just two finalists after athlete Jade Johnson was forced to quit with a knee injury.

Some years when no contestants dropped out unexpectedly, show bosses staged a double eviction at the semi-final stage.

But this time, four of the remaining six contestants will go through to the final on December 22.

Gymnast Louis Smith is the bookies’ favourite, followed by TV presenter Denise van Outen. The other four contenders left are actors Dani Harmer and Lisa Riley and singers Kimberley Walsh and Nicky Byrne.

The glittering final of Strictly Come Dancing 2012 is on the horizon as Sir Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly present the live semi-finals.

This week, each couple will perform two dances as they battle to find out who will be competing in this year’s final to lift the most coveted glitterball trophy in showbiz.

It is the season to be jolly, but will judges Len, Darcey, Bruno and Craig be full of festive cheer as they score both dances for each couple?

Once each duo has performed, the phone lines will open and it will fall to the public to decide who whichthree couples will make it to the final, and which two will say goodbye to the ballroom.

Darcy was on Radio 2 this morning - Chris Evans asked her who she thought the final three would be and the  first name off her lips was Lisa Riley   (followed by Louis and Dani) - because Lisa is such a characte, works so hard and loves every minute she's out there.   Apparently we don't have to love it.   She said Denise was technically very good but her acting (or words to that effect) let her down.    Chris pressed her on who should be the final three based on their dancing to date and she grudgingly agreed on Louis, Dani and Denise.   I think she was trying to say Lisa would be in the final because of her fans and Denise wouldn't because of her lack of them tbh.

So Darcy was speaking about the final three this morning, someone should have filled her in about the change so Denise gets through.I am no fan of Lisa but I detest Denise and I have said from the start that she had an unfair advantage.

As an actress, Denise van Outen appeared as Dorothy in the adult version of The Wizard of Oz in 1995. She then concentrated on her acting skills in Tube Tales as well as the romantic comedy Are Your Ready For Love. In 2001, she played the role of Roxie Hart in the musical Chicago at the Adelphi Theatre. Her other theatre credits include Tell Me On A Sunday and the London revival of Rent in 2007. On the big screen, Denise van Outen is set to appear on Goal! 3, on 2008.

I totally agree Erinp! I think Lisa should have been out last week, and Denise should never have been there in the first place! *sorry Kaffy*

DITTO

I think final three should be - Louis, Kimberly and Danni.

Really like Louis but ARM - I wouldn't mind any of the above winning - that would be fair IMO.

^^^^ That would be me! Doing Westend shows and on Broadway, should bar anyone from taking part.

Louis is a gymnast, not a dancer. Not the same thing at all.

ahh.. don't apologise - I know I don't hold the popular view, but I won't lose any sleep over it     I admit I'll be gutted if I have to watch Lisa Rily do a show dance over Denise though.

But Louis has been dancing since he was a kid, even in his school report, it said that "Louis is an exceptaional dancer".
