I thought it was really insulting for the audience to clap the dancers while he was singing. I wanted the focus to be on him as he deserves, not them

The huge difference in height makes them look awkward.
Colin's on a hiding to nothing with his height. he looks like he doesn't even know Kristina's there half the time.
