Sorry Anton, but if youare going to paticipate in what is effectively a game show, you have to be prepared to play the game - whatever it may throw at you.

On the Strictly Facebook page, they are looking for nick-names for the pairings.

One suggestion is  Fern/Artem: Fartem.

My sky+ failed to record it yesterday. I was hoping mad, it actually looked liked I was stomping out a Paso Doble!!!

JERRY HALL showed no model behaviour as she took a fag break during Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals.

Dance partner Anton Du Beke looked less than impressed when the former supermodel took a break just 25 minutes after arriving for the first day of training.

But he shouldn’t have been surprised – Texan Jerry had already admitted she was unlikely to work hard.

She said: “When I told my daughters I was doing it they said, ‘Mom, aren’t you kind of lazy?’ ”

An insider said: “Jerry arrived in a chauffeur-driven limousine at 11.30am. By 11.55am she emerged to take her first fag break.”

Jerry had demanded a dance partner “who’s tall and handsome with plenty of stamina”.

But Anton moaned Jerry could be his third “high maintenance” co-star after MP Ann Widdecombe and feisty Nancy Dell’Olio.

I know. I do agree with Fluffy it's a gameshow and he should man up but he's had a run of awkward ones and deserved a break imo. Should have given her to James.

I do feel a bit sorry for Anton, he's had more than his fair share of difficult partners.

STRICTLY star Michael Vaughan has already given his dance training the back seat – delaying the start due to work commitments.

The retired cricket ace will begin rehearsals two days later than his competitors after opting not to bail out of prior engagements.

But the decision has got Michael off on a bad foot with partner Natalie Lowe – who is desperate to impress bosses after they admitted to “road testing” two new pro dancers.

A show insider said: “Michael didn’t want to cancel the events he had planned, so he will be lagging behind most of his rivals as far as training is concerned.

“He doesn’t seem too worried about the delay, but Natalie is disappointed they couldn’t start sooner. She is very competitive and wants to win.

“She also feels there is more pressure this year because the bosses are trying out two American pro dancers – Lacey Schwimmer and Mark Ballas.”

Pro Lacey has been asked to choreograph a routine and Dancing With The Stars dancer Mark will perform with Katherine Jenkins later in the series.

The Strictly live shows begin on October 5.

Johnny Ball's Strictly Come Dancing partner Aliona Vilani has suffered an injury in training, ruling her out of action for the first live show.
The 28-year-old professional dancer suffered a hairline fracture to her ankle while training with Ball.

The BBC's Strictly website broke the news earlier today, and said that Vilani may be out of action for the next two to four weeks, with an appointment tomorrow confirming the severity of her condition.
The dancer tweeted a picture of her ankle in plaster to her followers, before adding: "Thank you all so much for your amazing messages of support!!!! I'm sure I'll recover soon."

What happened in the dance studio? Johnny:  “She just went ‘ahhh’ when we were doing this sideways step; she‘d gone over on her ankle. It’s very sad because we were getting to the point where we were just dealing with technicalities in the routine and it was going so well. There’s been a X-ray now and it seems like it’s a hairline fracture. They can take quite a while to heal especially for a dancer when she has to put her foot through what it goes through. It's so sad. I don’t know what’s going to happen now."

Aliona then gave us the news regarding her X-ray...

What did they say? A: "I just came back from the X-ray and they found a hairline fracture on my right ankle, and i've pulled my ligaments so they gave me crutches and a boot, that weirdly matches my outfit. They told me to rest, and not to dance."

You must be upset? A: “I’m so upset. This is so unexpected and so horrible. It happened so fast and I was in so much pain. I don’t know what’s going to happen now. I just don’t know what to think actually, I’m very sad."

It looks like Aliona will be unable to dance for 2 - 4 weeks.

Despite this unfortunate setback, Johnny is still training... with a new (temporary) partner. Yes, Ian Waite has boldly waltzed into rehearsals. You can see by the pictures that they're a perfect couple.
