Im loving Ricky (off Eastenders not Mr blooming perfect off Hollycocks) he managed to smoulder and make me laugh all in one go
Hi Amythist. I thought Ricky was fantastic last night. It's just so unexpected for me that he is that good.

Some of the dancers are very good, but they just don't make me feel anything. Ricky makes me smile and I like that.
FM
Hi Suzy xx trust you are enjoying your roast dinner,I made one yesterday and have just eaten leftovers today.First swede and carrot mash for many months, mmm.

I wish that Carl guy from Corrie would go he makes me nervous...tries too hard

Loving Natalie too ,doing it for the real women!Dont know if Vincent will manage much of a lift though ,hes tiny.

Dont know why, but I really like Brendon so am also supporting Jo even though shes a bit rubbish, but probably the nearest to my level of dancing ability which is nil.
Amythist
Glad you enjoyed it Suzi!! Certainly for me the best dance ever on SCD, with Jill's jive a close second.

Last night, enjoyed most of the dances and TBH glad Rav has gone, didn't understand the hype surrounding him. Jo and Joe were not good to say the least, but the best for me last night was Tuffers who is good at the ballroom, not so good at the Latin, rather like Darren Gough and Ricky from EE who was great.

Found the best way for me was to turn the sound right down when Brucie was on and read my book and then just watch the practising and the dance as Brucie just drives me mad with his so unfunny rambling.

Brendan looked as if he was going to explode at Craig's marks last night, there will be a big, big row between those two before long I'm thinking!!

Strictly Come Dancing week 3 awards...

By Ann Gripper on October 4, 2009 12:33 PM in Strictly Come Dancing

Showstopper of the week: Ricky Groves
After THAT cha cha cha, came THIS paso doble. With the training room footage featuring Erin asking, "Are you ready?" and Ricky delivering the response, "Yes, I was born ready!" you knew you were in for a treat. And with a yell to start proceedings, dreadful facial hair, some hefty fake tan and a decent effort at that matador leap, Ricky G was surely born to close the show.

Heart in mouth moment of the week: Aliona Vilani
The celebrities often worry about walking down the Strictly staircase, instead it was Rav's partner Aliona who nearly took a very ungraceful tumble. Maybe they should have realised then it wasn't to be their night.

Cutest moment of the week: Brian Fortuna
Ali Bastian looked nervous standing in the wings waiting to dance her quickstep - until partner Brian stuck out his tongue at her to make her giggle moments before they walked onstage. No wonder people are asking whether they might be more than just dance partners.

Good decision of the week: Ricky Groves
There was plenty of chest on display last night, with pros Darren (for the first time ever), James, Vincent and Brendan all showing some flesh, plus the now regular appearance of Ricky W's performing pecs. EastEnders' Ricky G went for the option of a shirt under his matador waistcoat. Phew.

Body bit of the week: Ricky Whittle's bottom
Lynda may have grabbed Darren's behind in their routine, but it was Ricky W who showed he had a backside to match the well-lusted-over joys of his chest. You've got to love Latin trousers.

Gurner of the week: Brian Fortuna
Following in the footsteps of Ricky 'the Goldfish' Groves and Craig 'huh' Kelly, Brian shows the pros can give some good facial contortions too.

Bum fluff of the week: James Jordan and Ricky Groves
Apparently there is something about the paso doble that makes men grow facial hair. Shame that James and Ricky G were left looking like there's had been drawn on with felt tip pen.

Bad music of the week: Lynda Bellingham and Darren Bennett, Zoe Lucker and James Jordan
Have to say I'm with Brucie on this one - paso doble needs the proper music. These songs had so little drama. Kristina Rihanoff and Joe Calzaghe just about got away with it with Bon Jovi.

What are you on? of the week: Alesha Dixon
Where did that 8 for Natalie Cassidy's paso doble come from? It was all skirt swishing and clumsy dragging round the floor. Fortunately their choice of traditional music gave it some extra oomph.

Cheerleader of the week: Bruce Forsyth
Was it really necessary to keep saying Alesha had a good point?

Backfiring plan of the week: Brendan Cole
When you dance like Jo Wood, having a large section of the routine where you are effectively just lifted off the floor and carried around probably seems like a good idea. And it worked - until the end as Brendan tried to throw her into the finish and it went a bit wrong.

Nickname of the week: Jo Wood
Now known as Have-a-go Jo, she seems to be the judges' pet project as they give her pep talks and advice where they choose to just rip other dancers to shreds.

Inequality of the week: Boys v girls
With seven couples having danced, the top four were girls, the bottom three were all boys who had done ballroom. The girls' advantage of having the boys to haul them around was shown by Laila and Anton, who managed to get 30 despite it looking to me like she was clinging on for dear life in places.

Alesha being right of the week: Laila Rouass

Craig and Len had given 8s for what to me seemed a very average routine - thankfully Alesha saw a bit more sense and pulled out a 7, matched by Bruno.

Ray of sunshine of the week: Phil Tufnell
You just can't help smiling watching him dance. And his dancing face somehow makes him look permanently surprised that he is gliding around the floor with a beautiful lady not making a complete hash of things.

Competitor of the week: Katya Virshilas
With Tuffers still grinning at his score of 24 despite things going wrong in the second half of the dance, pro partner Katya cut in with, "Imagine what our marks could have been." Erin's reputation as Miss Whiplash may be under threat.

Brave/foolish moment of the week: Jade Johnson
Made use of every bit of the floor - but you wouldn't get me leaping off the stage in high heels to a quickstep.

Move of the week: Kristina Rihanoff

First there was the weird one leg over his shoulder balance/lift thing, then the dive forward roll over his shoulder. Particularly tickled me as one of my friends had earlier been demonstrating how she sometimes likes to do a dive forward roll into bed.

Costume of the week: Joe Calzaghe and Kristina Rihanoff
Kept largely under wraps until they actually took to the floor, Kristina looked like she had a nice gold frock and Joe looked manly in a black vest. He walked out and you spotted the boxing-style belt detail on the trousers. Kristina's skirt was removed to turn into a cape - with the added detail of Calzaghe on the back, just like the robes he would have worn into the boxing ring. And it turns out the belt had a Welsh dragon in too. Nice attention to detail.

Most improved of the week: Joe Calzaghe

Lived up to his outfit and looked to have lost a lot of the fear. Yes, the dance suited him but he can take confidence from this and have a real go next week. And Kristina did not need to resort to a repeat of the sack of potatoes John Sergeant move.

Happy feet of the week: Chris Hollins
He may have made a few mistakes but he makes dancing look like the most fun thing in the world (which, to be fair, it is). it is so obvious he is enjoying it.

Right more often than not of the week: Craig Revel-Horwood
His 3s for Jo, Joe and Rav made me wince, but I found myself agreeing with him more often than not and reckon the others have got some serious mark inflation going on at times.

Rollocking of the week: Aliona Vilani
Got told off by the judges for choreographing a routine that didn't suit partner Rav. He had already been in the dance-off once, which suggests he didn't have a mass fan base anyway, but Aliona (who was criticised for their rumba routine previously) has to take some of the responsibility for their exit. Wouldn't be surprised if she went the way of Hayley Holt.

Quickstep of the week: Jade Johnson and Ian Waite

A bit rougher around the edges than some dances admittedly but full of energy, fun, great choreography and awesome music. That is why I love the quickstep.

Paso doble of the week: Ricky Whittle and Natalie Lowe

Proper music and proper dancing. Awesome.

My tip of the week: One for the boys
Stop looking at your partner when you're dancing ballroom! Chris, Craig, Rav and Phil all looked to their safety net far too much.

He did well, and it can't be easy for them.
I wonder who will go out next?

Strictly Come Dancing's chirpy cricketer Phil Tufnell confined to wheelchair... but he's still smiling (and smoking)

He's still smiling, but Phil Tufnell's place on Strictly Come Dancing may be in doubt.

The former England cricketer has been confined to a wheelchair - after tearing cartilage while competing on the BBC dance show.

Tufnell, 43, underwent keyhole surgery on his knee at the weekend.

Still smiling: Injured cricketer Phil Tufnell's wife Dawn pushes him outside a London hospital following an operation on his leg

The spin bowler was pushed by his wife Dawn outside a private hospital in St John's Wood, London, yesterday.

But, remarkably, he hopes to make a speedy recovery and has just three days to perfect a salsa with his dance partner Katya Virshilas before Saturday's live performance.

Tufnell wrote on Twitter: 'Dr said everything went well; after a bit of physio could be training by Tues.'

On Saturday former Crimewatch presenter Rav Wilding was sent home from the competition after losing a dance-off against Loose Woman Lynda Bellingham.

That's not good for your dancing! Phil has a smoke outside the hospital

Arlene Phillips to return to Strictly Come Dancing UK tour

Arlene Phillips will return to the Strictly Come Dancing judging panel as part of the show's five-week UK tour. The former panellist will join Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood, but not her replacement Alesha Dixon as the show takes to the road for 33 performances next year. Despite the controversy surrounding Alesha's appointment, organisers insist that the tour was confirmed before Arlene was axed from the show. "We recognised that we had a winning formula with audiences, so at the end of the 2009 dates we asked Arlene to join next year's tour," a spokesman said.

Alesha's was criticised for being "out of her depth" on the show after replacing the 66-year-old Arlene, but her rep says her decision not to be part of the tour was due to scheduling conflicts. "Alesha was approached and asked to be a judge on the live tour. It's certainly not the case that she's been snubbed," her publicist said. "Alesha will be recording her new album in America and then the UK. She said right from the beginning that she couldn't do the tour." SOURCE: DAILY MAIL

Calls for Anton to be sacked, it's over he apologised Laila the person who he said it to has accepted they moved on finished but he needs to learn to think before he speaks but can understand why they've found it offensive, papers doing more stirring it seems.
Anton didn't say it as an insult so I can't see what the problem is, and he didn't say it on the TV as far as I know.
It was only a joke after she had put too much fake tan on I think.
And she is half Indian anyway.

Strictly star Anton Du Beke's Paki comment sees 63 complain to BBC

The BBC has received 63 complaints after it emerged Strictly Come Dancing professional Anton Du Beke called partner Laila Rouass "a P***".

There have been calls to sack Du Beke, who also presents game show Hole In The Wall, after the comment to Footballers Wives actress Laila over a spray tan.

One of only three professional dancers to have appeared in every series of the hit ballroom show, Du Beke had been tipped to eventually replace veteran host Bruce Forsyth.

But the racism row, which also saw him ask Laila whether she was a 'terrorist' when they first met, has seen the odds on him getting the sack instead slashed from 20-1 to 6-1 after bets this morning.

Piers Morgan reveals Arlene Phillips hurt

Piers Morgan has revealed that Arlene Phillips experienced "real hurt" at losing her job on Strictly Come Dancing.

Phillips was controversially replaced by pop star and former Strictly winner Alesha Dixon on the reality talent contest earlier this year.

She appeared alongside Morgan and Ulrika Jonsson during the recent Newsroom's Got Talent charity event.

Morgan said: "She was delightful. 'Does it feel weird to be back doing this kind of thing after all the furore over your sacking?' I asked, as we took our seats.

"'Very,' she admitted. 'I'm actually quite nervous.' She needn't have worried. When I announced 'Ladies and gentlemen, Arlene Phillips is back where she belongs,' there was a huge and heartfelt cheer.

"'I have to admit,' I said during a break a bit later, 'I do feel a bit sorry for your replacement Alesha Dixon. She's going through a pretty horrible time'. 'Yes, well, I've been through a pretty horrible time, too,' Arlene replied, firmly.”

"And for the first time, I could see the real hurt she's feeling at losing the job she loved,” he added.

“I hope she gets another big show soon, because apart from being a TV natural, Arlene looks quite fabulous for her age - 66 - thus making the whole age debate about her seem utterly superfluous."

It’s been confirmed that Phillips will appear as a judge in the Strictly Come Dancing live tour in 2010.

I get the feeling that Craig Kelly is his own worst enemy. There are flashes that he could have flair and style, but mostly the nerves take over. He seems to be remarkably tense. I hope he can pull himself together in time.
Likewise I thought Joe Kalzaghe had some good positions and more thrutch this weekend. But I think one of his major problems is lack of feeling for music. I know Bruno has suggested more than once that Joe should listen to the music. But, frustratingly, listening may not be enough if he is unable to "feel" it. Music doesn't seem to be in his soul. Not good for a dancer.

As you say, Don't think Joe feels the beat at all, which means it's unlikely that he will do any good.

And as you say with Craig, like some others, as the nerves get less they could be good.

Strictly Come Dancing's Ali Bastian on Fortuna rumours

Getting close: Ali says Brian is perfect dance partner
Getting close: Ali says Brian is perfect dance partner

Strictly Come Dancing beauty Ali Bastian has broken her silence on the bubbling sexual tension between her and dancing partner Brian Fortuna.

The Hollyoaks babe admits it is hard not getting close to the dancing hunk while spending hours pressed up against him in training.

'We clicked straight away. I can see how it's easy to fall for someone when you're dancing with them because you spend so much time together and you have to trust them', admits Bastian.

'Of course Brian's my dream dance partner right now and I'd love to have been Patrick Swayze's Baby if I'd got the chance.'

'There's definitely something attractive about a man who can dance. I'm all for it and I think it's a good sign of things to comeâ€Ķ'

But the tease, 26, does insist their friendship hasn't turned more serious just yet after a string of nights out.

'We're just really good friends. Honestly!' she told Now magazine.

Details on the pair's dancing chemistry comes after Fortuna admitted he had the hots for his new protÃĐgÃĐ.

'I've been asking Ali out for three weeks and she keeps shooting me down. Maybe one day she will accept', he said.

Former winner-turned-judge Alesha Dixon could be about to challenge her critics by stepping back on to the Strictly dancefloor. There’s a plan to put her centre stage in a group performance with the rest of the panel in a bid to halt the avalanche of complaints to the BBC about her new role. Our Beeb insider said: “No one expected such a backlash when Alesha got on board and there’s a feeling that something needs to be done to turn it around for her. She is an amazing dancer and was brought in because she was so popular with viewers when she competed in the show. There’s a feeling that viewers who voted for her in droves have now forgotten what she can do. Fellow judge Craig Revel Horwood told us: “Something needs to be done and done urgently. A dance for us is an idea I’ve been putting forward for some time. This year I’m really going to push for it. Alesha has every right to be on our panel. She’d answer her critics in dance.”
