Arlene Phillips returning to Strictly Come Dancing

The BBC are said to be in secret talks with Arlene Phillips and are planning to bring her back to Strictly Come Dancing.

The Sunday Mirror reports that show bosses want Arlene to choreograph dances in one of the final shows of the series.

A Strictly source said last night: “There’s a massive buzz about the idea of bringing her back. We’ve always seen Arlene as part of the Strictly family and, knowing how popular she is among the show’s fans, we have been looking at ways to bring her back in.”

Bosses are also said to be considering using Arlene as an extra judge, alongside Alesha Dixon and Darcey Bussell on this years grand finale.

I read that SYTYCD doesn't start till January, so Arlene does have the time available but she's probably busy with other things and I imagine still cross with the BBC over how things happened, but you never know?.

On Richard Dunwoody (making horse references): On his Cha Cha Cha it was like Lilia was trotting and he was galloping. But he is a real trier. He was trying to put everything into what he was doing.

On Craig (the predictable...): It was less Coronation Street, more Nightmare on Elm Street.

Strictly Come Dancing's Alesha Dixon should be given a break

ANYONE else bored over the whole 'Alesha Dixon is not fit to be a judge-gate' on Strictly Come Dancing?

General consensus at Lads' Lounge Towers was that the gorgeous but under-fire judge was doing a decent job - if not setting the world alight.

Rather like the rest of the show then. Surely having the likes to boxers and cricketers facing stage-school trained soap actors makes the playing field somewhat unbalanced?

But back to the main point.

After the show Alesha said she felt able to "relax and be myself" after settling onto the show's judging panel - despite Bruce Forsyth's repeatedly cringe-worthy attempts to raise her morale during Friday's show.

According to Brucie, Our Alesha, who replaced veteran choreographer Arlene Phillips, has more support that Sophie Reade's bra straps.

And former jockey Richard Dunwoody, who was booted off the show on Saturday, backed Dixon, saying she was "absolutely fantastic" as a judge.

"We all thought last week that she was good but this week she was excellent," he said.

"She's bringing a different voice to the panel as she's been there and done it and she's able to give really good advice."

Dixon said: "Last week naturally I was just settling in.

"There has been a massive build up to the show and there was a lot of pressure on my shoulders.

"This week, however, I was able to relax and be myself."

Ricky Whittle 'red hot' to win Strictly Come Dancing

Burghfield Common hunk Ricky Whittle has been hailed as the “red hot favourite” to win Strictly Come Dancing.

Odds for the Hollyoaks actor to win currently stand at 5-4 after he came top of the judge’s scoreboard on Friday and Saturday night after performing a ballroom and Latin dance.

Weekend Madness

well what can i say? what a week!!! The great news is i survived! Although i’ve been driven out of my own house for a week and nearly had a car crash tonight due to paps chasing me, all in all i had a great night tonight. When you really think about it it’s crazy, all for a tv show. One thing i have always tried to do in life is find a positive within a negative. There are many good things to have come from this over the top drama that is just good old saturday night entertainment, you just have to look beyond the hype! Have a fabulous week everybody i’m off to manchester to start some radio promo for ‘to love again’ (shooting the video next week, i can’t wait) Lots of love and kisses xxxx

Ali Bastian has sparked speculation she is dating her Strictly Come Dancing partner.

The Bill star was snapped with Brian Fortuna at last night's Inside Soap Awards in London.

Ali is also thought to have been spending much of her spare time with the hunk.

‘She and Brian are both single and so it wouldn't be a shock if romance started,' says a source. ‘They have great chemistry.'

Ali, 26, is said to have recently split from a mystery boyfriend, who she had apparently been seeing for five months.

‘Ali's relationship with Brian is purely as dance partners and friends,' a BBC spokeswoman tells the Daily Mirror.

‘They are having lots of fun at the moment.'

Dallerup hopes Calzaghe wins Strictly

Camilla Dallerup has revealed she's pinning her hopes on boxer Joe Calzaghe to be crowned the next 'Strictly Come Dancing' king.

The pro dancer, who won the show's sixth season with Tom Chambers, said at the Inside Soap Awards: "I know that Joe Calzaghe perhaps didn't have a first good week but my money is still on him to win.

"I just think there is something so endearing about a man who is a world champion, a real tough guy, being so nervous they can hardly move on the dance floor, and actually so want to dance and please the audience, and I can see a bit of a Darren Gough journey coming on."

Ex-'Hollyoaks' star Chris Fountain is supporting his former co-stars, Ali Bastian and Ricky Whittle.

"I have to watch it because Ricky's on there and Ali's on there," he said.

"They're both like joint favourites now, I think. But I have been giving Ricky some abuse about his costumes, only because he did it to me when I did 'Dancing On Ice', so you've kind of got to do it. I said, 'You're doing really well mate but those shirts are horrendous, you've gotta sort it out'."

He added: "I'm voting for them both. When it gets to the final, I'll have to man up and choose which one I want but at the moment I'm sending each of them a little vote."

hahahahaha Hicky! I love all this speculation about the dance couples. Ever since the first series, there has been talk about who is with who, and is there more than what appears on the surface.

They are bound to get very close, and when you spend so much time together we know what happens.
And those Pro dancers are really something else, they have bodies to die for.

I always wondered how it changed the way you drive just because the paps are chasing you, you shouldn't try to get away from them, that is bound to get you into big trouble as we all know.

What does it matter if the paps are there or not?
If you weren't of interest then they wouldn't want a picture, I suppose they don't like them getting them for free, that's what it is.

Ricky Whittle "mortified" by feud claims

Zoe Lucker has claimed that her Strictly Come Dancing co-star Ricky Whittle was "mortified" by rumours that they don't get along.

Earlier this month, reports suggested that the Hollyoaks actor had described Lucker as "a stuck-up cow" in a 2005 interview.

Whittle later described the speculation as "upsetting" and insisted that he is enjoying the actress's company on set.

Lucker has now told Celebs On Sunday: "I don't even recall meeting Ricky before Strictly. And when I did meet him, he was lovely. Bless him, he was mortified about that article.

"He said to the producers, 'Oh my God, I have to speak to Zoe. I have to tell her this isn't the case'. Then he left me a voicemail saying, 'I'm so sorry someone printed this rubbish'.

"Whatever it was, it was probably taken out of context at the time. People kept ringing me and saying, 'Did you see what Ricky said?' But he's such a nice guy. He's great. And what's more, I think he'll go far in the show."

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 7pm on BBC One.

Strictly Come Dancing and X Factor boost pizza sales

Takeaway chain Papa John's is getting a big pizza the action thanks to double helpings of hit BBC show Strictly Come Dancing.

Families staying glued to their sets to watch couples including favourites Zoe Lucker and James Jordan are ordering up extra pizzas for home delivery. Sales rose 9% in the past three months and soared by 31% over the year.

BBC1's Strictly and ITV1 rival show X Factor have been credited with boosting Papa John's orders made over the internet.

Marketing director Simon Wallis said: "The launch of those two huge shows saw our biggest two weekends."

The relaunched Strictly Come Dancing site will feature more contributions from users

The BBC is planning to relaunch the Strictly Come Dancing website in time for this weekend's show.

Users will be able to get more involved with the show while watching it, giving their own ratings for the contestants and selecting their favourite moments while the show is on air for viewing afterwards.

The new Strictly Come Dancing site comes ahead of the wider relaunch of the BBC's websites to include more social media.

Simon Nelson, the BBC's controller of portfolio and multi-platform, discussed the plans at the BBC's recent open day, saying: "We are focusing our efforts this time on social viewing and community building around the show." On Tuesday, during the launch of this year's MediaGuardian Innovation Awards Anthony Rose, the BBC's controller of Vision and Online, confirmed the move: "With Strictly Come Dancing we will have a site hopefully getting live this weekend, where you can have a make live comments and interact and have a social viewing experience around Strictly."

"The BBC has been doing social media for many years. We do blogs and comments and rating, but there is a whole new world out there related to APIs and friends and so on, and we are not in that space."

Rose emphasised the BBCs slow but meticulous approach. "We will start with some smaller sites, some theme things around particular programmes," he said. "It is these kind of small steps around theme programs with a self-selecting audience, which will help us learn more. Also under the hook we a create whole new kind of technology, that I hope to see flowering across the BBC site over the coming months."

The BBC is free to innovate, but only within its public service guidelines. "Each new thing we do, we think through very carefully," said Rose. "Clearly the population expects us to innovate. If we don't innovate, we get slammed for doing nothing."

I watched Dancing with the Stars this week and they had a 'relay' dance as well as a single dance - four couples take part at a time, each dancing for 30 seconds before the next takes over. I thought it was great - and really showed up the differences between the couples. They should do that here too.

I watched Dancing with the Stars this week and they had a 'relay' dance as well as a single dance - four couples take part at a time, each dancing for 30 seconds before the next takes over. I thought it was great - and really showed up the differences between the couples. They should do that here too.

Yep, I've watched that program before, it's very good, but on SCD they don't get enough time to learn too much, they are worn out as it is.
They probably should only have to dance every two weeks to give them a break and time to learn the dance properly.

Laila Rouass: 'Alesha knows how we feel'

Laila Rouass has said that Alesha Dixon is the only Strictly Come Dancing panellist who knows how the celebrities on the show feel.

The Primeval actress and Strictly contestant told The Mirror that Dixon's critics had ignored her positive contribution to the programme.

Rouass said: "From where I’m standing, Alesha is the only one on the panel who knows how I feel. She can see our nerves.

"And a lot of her comments were right, but everyone's focused on the negative."

She added: "People are comparing her to Cheryl Cole on The X Factor. Well Cheryl goes through three months of auditions before going to the live shows.

"Alesha is in at the deep end, but she's giving it her best."

Dixon has been supported by a number of past and present Strictly stars this week, including Mark Foster, Richard Dunwoody and Brendan Cole.

What nonsense. I know Alesha Dixon has been a contestant, but the statement by Laila Rouass quoted by the `Entertainment Reporter` (above) is tantamount to stating that not one other person in that show has any understanding, sympathy, or empathy for contestants.

Natalie Cassidy is spending her waking hours living and breathing dancing.

So much so that it seems the Strictly Come Dancing contestant hasn't got time to spare slaving away over the kitchen hob.

Natalie was spotted stocking up on some healthy convenience food today.

She popped into a branch of Marks and Spencer and filled her basket with pre-prepared dishes of salad, vegetables, pasta, stir fry and wholemeal bread rolls.

Yo-yo dieter Natalie previously slimmed down to a size 8.

But she but later admitted she had been eating unhealthily to sustain her slender size after failing to keep up with her exercise routine.

Now spending hours rehearsing for the show, Natalie is having to make sure her diet keeps her full of energy.

The 26-year-old has said she signed up for Strictly 'to dance and put my sequins on'.

It seems the flamboyant costumes have begun to influence her everyday wardrobe, with Natalie pulling on a fashionably sparkly jacket for today's shopping trip.

Strictly Come Dancing's Ali Bastian has revealed that a wardrobe malfunction meant she saw dance partner Brian Fortuna's bum!

'Brian split his pants!' Ali, 26, exclusively reveals to Now.

'He was bending down to pick up a plaster that had fallen off my foot and they just ripped! I made sure I averted my eyes, of course!'

Brian, 27, isn't the first man on Strictly Come Dancing to flash his toned derriere - Rav Wilding and Ricky Whittle both split their pants during training.

Rumours have been rife that Brian and Ali have been enjoying a Strictly romance since Brian admitted that he'd been asking the former star of Hollyoaks and The Bill for a date for weeks.

However, unlike their Strictly co-stars Kristina Rihanoff and Joe Calzaghe, Ali insists they are just good friends.
