Well, I thoroughly enjoyed tonight's show and well done to both Ricky and Chris for some great dances, well done Natalie and Ola for some great choreography as well.

I'm really glad that Chris has won, everyone sees it differently, but I think he danced well tonight, kept the facial expressions down to a minimum, loved his lindy hop and charleston, but also loved the show dance, showing off both personalities really well.  Ricky's dances were techincally excellent, but they just did not put a smile on my face and I think that Natalie slipped at least once in the cha cha cha.

Downside for me was as usual Bruce.  Trying to take over the show as usual and the song with Alesha was terrible, I felt sorry for her to be honest, but think she could have a career in musicals as she can deliver songs like that well.  Also felt tonight there was a lot of padding, even more than usual.  I just don't like the pleas for votes and seeing the journey, I like to see the dances from the contestants and the professional dances as well, as well as the other contestants.  It was lovely to see Rachel again, she looks so at home with Vincent, as Natalie was never really able to this year and hasn't Lisa Snowdon put some weight on?? (Miaow), not a good dance from her either.

I'm really pleased that Chris won and that both dancers really gave it their best shot all night and I'm really going to miss this thread, thanks for all the laughs during the programme, and can't wait for next year xx

well, i was against chris and ola last week, but tonight won me over! Their charleston and show dance was fantastic, and they were dancing well and they were entertaining. Very deserved! Feel Ricky and Natalie took their foot off the pedal a bit..i dont know..something was missing! Loving olas sparkly trousers too!
It wouldn't have mattered what Ricky did tonight, he wasn't going to beat Chris, thats the way it goes, the public prefered Chris to Ricky, nothing to do with the Dancing, no-one was going to beat Ricky at that.

Watched the final with my DiL last night, so I couldn't be with you.
Loved Chris and Ola and thought they deserved to win. Yes Ricky was, technically, more perfect but IMO he failed to light up the stage, in the way that Chris did with his performance.
I enjoyed this series and I will miss this thread. Thanks to everyone here.

I enjoyed the final last night and both couples would have been worthy winners on the day. Although Ricky is a very good dancer..he came across as too desperate to win, so I didn't warm to him. On the other hand, Chris seemed to be having fun and didn't believe he would win  and was much more happy go lucky than Ricky.

Ricky Whittle wasn't even invited on the Strictly Come Dancing live tour...

Ricky Whittle clearly loved every minute of his Strictly Come Dancing experience (well, maybe not the injuries), so we were surprised to hear he wouldn't be joining the live tour in the New Year. However, it turns out that Ricky in fact did want to keep on dancing, but he just wasn't invited. Ooer. "I would've snapped someone's arm off to go on tour," Ricky said sadly. "I asked someone about it but they never got back to me. It is a shame, because I think we came up with routines to really entertain the audience." Asked why he wasn't considered for the tour despite getting to the final, Ricky replied, "I've got no idea. I'd like to know who the boss is because I'd have thought you'd want people who are entertaining." Sounds pretty miffed, doesn't he? Ricky now only has va few months left before he leaves Hollyoaks for good. Maybe he could get a dancing role in a West End show next instead?

11m watch Hollyoaks star in Strictly Come Dancing final

11m watch Hollyoaks star in Strictly Come Dancing final

MORE than 11 million people tuned in to watch the Strictly Come Dancing final where Ricky Whittle, a star of Chester based soap Hollyoaks came second.

In a battle of talent versus entertainment, underdog BBC sports reporter Chris Hollins won over the public vote to take the crown.

He beat hot favourite Hollyoaks actor Ricky.

The BBC revealed the show attracted a peak audience of 11.7m viewers, which represented a 47 per cent share.

Ricky Whittle’s fancy footwork had helped him to remain bookies’ favourite ahead of the final clash despite his November arrest for allegedly hitting a photographer with his car in Liverpool city centre.

The actor, who plans to take legal action over the incident, ended up in the bottom two contestants after the drama.

Whittle, who wowed the judges in the final by performing an impressive lift, revealed today he had struggled with an inguinal hernia.

The actor, who plans to quit Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks next year to try to make his name in Hollywood, said he kept the problem a secret as he did not want to be dropped from the show or to get sympathy votes from viewers.

“Every week I was terrified I would collapse on stage and be rushed to hospital,” he told the News of the World.

“The pain was horrendous but it was my dream to go on the show and I wasn’t going to let an injury stop me.”
