I am very, very surprised - and disappointed.
Apparently the voters are not using the same criteria as me.
It would be a great shame if this series transmuted into series of publicity stunts and lost respect as a dancing/entertainment show.
Especially as this year there are a whole handful of worthy contestants. The competition is strong this year. 'Twould be a pity if that counted for nothing.

I totally agree Brisket.... it would be a travesty if the likes of Matt & Scott & Kara went out leaving the likes of Gavin, Ann & Michelle in there..

People are voting for who they want with whatever reason simples, i'm seeing some of the Ann must resign messages on DS and thinking WTF because if I was one of those voting for Ann and Anton I would be bloody peed off after spending money to keep her in and she pulls a John Sargeant, which she said she will not do anyway.

Jimi might have polled the least votes, he was in middle of the leaderboard like Michelle so is a big drop.. in a way some of his fans who didn't vote today thinking he was safe were wishing they did now.

Isn't it ironic that I saw a Google article today where Jimi claims that Ann might win.

Oh and it'll be interesting to see the judges reaction, especially Len if he goes back into it's a dance competition mode after saying that he finds Ann entertaining.

The usual words such as travesty are being used, some need to take some perspective yes it's a shame but calm down it's only a TV show.

The BBC won't care a jot about some people being up in airs over this because the viewing figures are raising again which the producers will be happy about and they don't make money from the voting calls...

I fully understand darlo's point about the entertainment value and that many people will vote for a particular contestant for reasons of their own, regardless of the dancing.
However - the programme is called Strictly Come Dancing and they have dance judges, so my main criteria will always be the dancing. They can do all sorts of funny things if they wish but I need them to be able to dance as well. I cannot get away from the fact that the whole thing is based on dancing, and as such the results are now in danger of not reflecting dancing ability at all!

(Makes you wonder if a return of the 'dance-off' would help   )

Brisket but people moaned about the dance off because Len had head judge power and the judges were accused of trying to save their favourites and now with this public vote only thing people are still moaning now so the producers can't win.

SCD is more about Saturday night fun but overall it is about both entertainment and dancing, some of the viewers won't care about heel leads etc where as the people who look at the dance side do. Plus the celebs aren't taking part because of their love of dance at first, it's all about getting more exposure and job offers after.

So leaderboard from last night was:

Kara and Artem- 36
Matt and Aliona- 35
Pamela and James- 33
Jimi and Flavia - 32
Michelle and Brendan- 30
Felicity and Vincent- 29

Gavin and Katya- 29
Patsy and Robin- 29

Scott and Natalie- 28
Ann and Anton- 17

Both the bottom 2 were in the middle, however what has led to Jimi's departure aside from clearly the fact he got the least votes last night to be in the bottom 2 is that 3 way tie between Felicity, Gavin and Patsy, they need to sort that tie rule out after the farce especially after what happened in the Christmas special with Kelly Brook etc. Judges marking was all over the place yesterday.

I'm glad you have posted the leaderboard darlo.  Thanks.
Although I watched the programme I hadn't fully realised there was a 3-way tie between Felicity, Gavin and Patsy.  It splits the vote obviously.
But what hits me even more is that couples with marks in the 30s are even under threat.
Scary and unpredictable.
That's why I think those people who do vote should not take their favourites for granted and should keep voting for them. You never know what could happen otherwise......

Exactly and then they moan when their favourite goes, although some of us here do that and we don't even vote.

Alesha and Bruno were spot on yesterday IMO looking at the judges marks, Len and Craig had a crazy night.
