How very odd it's trending 2014.

I noticed that yesterday, EC!   Why is it suddenly a most read story, I wonder?

This happens relatively frequently on the BBC website (old news stories generally, not just Saddam ), especially on the video section. The number of times I've watched something and was all then realised it happened 4 years ago.  These days I check the dates on everything I read....just to be sure.  

There is usually a good reason for these things popping up... for example people being linked to the story from somewhere else, a similar story on the BBC currently...some silly sod trying to get it in the top 10 just for the larfs.  

Happened the other day too. Alan Carr (not the 'Chatty Man') died in 2006, but I found it on the front page a few days ago.

It could be to do with the fact he was executed on 20th December, so a few hits turn into many and it rises up the trending table.

Anyone want to help me get an old news story up there? I'm thinking the sinking of the Titanic.

I can imagine lots of people googling Allan Carr because they wanted to stop smoking for the new year - that's probably what bumped him up.

Maybe some people are resolving to execute people who have p'd them off in 2013

Allen Carr ..........such a clever man. I cannot believe reading a book stopped me drinking ...........I don't know why his books aren't available on the NHS.
