Storm Éowyn

Met Office has issued red warnings for winds for tomorrow for Northern Ireland from 7 am to 2 pm tomorrow and southern Scotland including Glasgow and Edinburgh from 10 am to 5 pm tomorrow.
Gusts 80-90 mph and up to 100 mph on exposed coasts.
They are advising people to stay indoors and not to travel.

The whole of Ireland has a red warning for winds from the Irish Met Office. May be the worst storm there since the 1960s.

I can't tell if it's night or day here it's so dark...heavy rain but no wind...yet!
It's not forecast to be too bad here, certainly nowhere near what up North is expected to get.

Please be careful those of you who live in the worst of it...no heroics now!

All fingers crossed here and there Buddies. Changed just like that - is there something they're not telling us?

I hope you stay safe tomorrow, Velvet

I think the Met Office try to restrict the use of red warnings only when needed. They seem to try to keep the warning to as precise an area as they can. The closer they get to the event, the more precise they can be, That's why the warnings change.

They are now saying there could be tornados in the south of the country …from south of Bristol to London 😱😱

Eeek! and we all know about tornadoes....I've seen 'The Wizard of Oz'

I've said it before....it was only a matter of time before we started getting the more extreme winds...what good are wind farms & solar panels in a hurricane or tornado

There's over 715,000 properties in Ireland now without power, Slim. It's going to take quite some time before all of them regain power as there's a lot of damage to the electricity infrastructure there

Let’s hope they get connected very soon

Hope everyone is ok . A friend of mine in Scotland lost her garage roof , but another friend in Ireland seems to be ok….at least she’s not lost her electric so far . Looks like the Isle of Man is taking a battering too …I think they have declared a major incident too.

Also 250,000 customers in Northern Ireland and 100,000 homes in Scotland are without power.
