Just had a red alert extreme winds text from the government,I pressed ok and it disappeared before I read it ðŸĪĢâ€Ķ.feeling apprehensive as the online weather forecasts are saying 75mph gusts and the weather guy on the tv said 90 mph, scary night and day ahead.

Yes,I saw that on the news  â€Ķ..stay very safe down there Amythist and Slim

Reports of trees down in Devon too Amy, and a few roads have been closed as a result or as a precaution...
Hope you managed a bit more sleep and are feeling safe

Glad you are both ok. I was up at 5 o’clock too Amythist â€Ķalthough the brunt  of the storm only hit here about an hour ago l! It’s very dark too â€Ķ..in fact the battery operated sensor lights I’ve got on the stairs, hallway etc . keep coming on ! I just hope the worst of it passes soon !  The Ocado driver said there are trees down around here too Slim .

Anyway , stay safe everyone â€Ķ.the furthest I’ve been today is out to feed the wildlife , and put a brick on top of a bin lid that must have blown open overnight !

Storm Darragh taking its time to clear, so although the red warning has ended, the amber warning for wind ends at 11 pm, the yellow warning in places which continues to 6 am tomorrow, that's immediately replaced with another yellow warning for wind from then until 6pm tomorrow. So although not as windy as today, it will still be windy.

How is everyone? Did any of you lose power?

We had one of these storms here in the greater Seattle area a few weeks ago, and pockets of neighborhoods were without power for almost a week! (I was lucky—we were only out for a couple of hours.)

Winds seem to be blowing just as hard El if not harder at times

But no loss of power here Lori...not yet anyways

The UK National Grid people say that there are tens of thousands of people are without power, some in the south of Wales, some in the south west of England, some along the Bristol Channel, some in South Gloucestershire, some in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, some in Shropshire and smaller numbers elsewhere,

Elsewhere there are more than 40,000 households in Northern Ireland

Worse hit has been Ireland with almost 325,000 customers without power.

I haven't had any power cuts.

Horrendous here too Loriâ€Ķ.but no power cuts , thankfully â€Ķ.although I did make sure the torches and sensor lights all have new batteries in themâ€Ķ.and my phone and iPad are fully charged

I bought a couple of wind-up torches & lanterns a couple of months ago just incase I run out of batteries...never too prepared I say
