There, I've said it. Imagine he would be a nightmare too for some reason. Bit precious to me.

 Know what you mean Velvet.

As far as I know, Stephen Fry refuses to take medication as he wants to keep his manic "genius" side. Its not exactly a choice most with MH problems have, and its hard to sympathise with him there.

Hope I'm wrong but I fear Mr Fry might have got this one wrong.

thought I was the only one one to see impending disaster in this relationship Good luck to them both if it works out,

I wish I wasn't so sceptical about this.

me too Cosi, I wish Stephen Fry all the best wishes in the world....but,  my gut instinct tells me he's going to need it

I hope no one's going to jump down my throat and each to their own but doesn't it look a bit creepy, mid life crisis or predatory?  The partner looks about 19.  Fry looks like his granddad and a laughing stock.

I've always liked Stephen Fry, his ethics and as a grounded, decent person.  I recall how he repressed his sexuality in his youth when he confessed to being celibate.  Maybe if he put himself about a bit more when he was younger he wouldn't be clutching at youth now.

The abiding image I have is one of either a foolish wealthy older man being hustled or one using his power and money to feed his wants.

The first is sad, the last puts him on par with those who think everything, including people can be bought as commodities, if there's enough money involved.  I doubt the younger Stephen Fry would approve of the older Stephen Fry.

Before anyone starts, it's not homophobia. I say the same thing about that creepy old git Hugh Hefner and all those young women he puts his decrepit paws all over.

ditto.   A 27 year old would probably make me happy too - but I'd not want to tie myself to one for life.    I really hope it works out for Stephen's sake and who knows.. stranger things have happened.  Good luck to him (and I mean to say 'him' rather than 'them' because I feel it's him who'll need it most)

I think the vast majority would draw a similar conclusion Carnelian mainly because we tend to find in the celebrity world that is reality. But the third option (and I really, really, really hope it's true) is that this is a genuine relationship where the age gap is not a major issue despite what we the general public seem to think.

I'm a big fan of Mr Fry and his work. Would be nice if this worked for him. 10 years on and it may not be so stark.
