So...the question of Moderating on here..

is still causing me some concern

I think I'm going to like it here. I absolutely don't want to make waves. More importantly, I really don't want to seem ungrateful or disrespectful to the O'Neils, and their colleagues, for providing these facilities and for making the transition so seamless.

But, in view of various rumours still flying around, and some comments from certain "established" FMs which are designed to spread confusion & uncertainty, Id just like to be able to know (once and for all & for MY personal preference) whether or not this Forum will be moderated by people who were former C4 Forum members.

Then I can make an informed choice whether I stay or go (but I hope I can stay).

From what I can gather we are going to be part of something bigger than just this forum.....if that's the case we may even end up with paid Mods like DS has.That's where, I personally think we are heading....which should mean peeps who have run big independant forums before...professional Mods so to speak.

The people I've noticed be able to create stickies/move stuff etc seem to be US based. I think I've spotted about 5 or 6 or so but I can't recall names

Personally the ONLY one I would feel OK helping to moderate here (if help is needed) would be Bov. He's the most calm, level-headed & un-clicky & impartial guy around these parts.

But I realise that most people might have their various own favourites and/or history from the C4 days.

Bovrilking (in the So Have We Done Roaming thread) says that those rumours are not true.
I suspect it started as a wind-up. It seems that most people would definitely NOT want former forumers to be moderators.

imho its probably a bad idea any FM modding the place.. no matter how impartial they appear to be.. because the problem isn't with the person modding but the fact they have been made a mod.. it is a poison chalice and puts them in a very difficult position..

It wouldn't happen in the immediate future if at all. Eventually we may recognize some stars here in the community that are long term members and understand how things should be done, but that sort of thing doesn't happen in a week or a month.

Either way, you should never ever feel uncomfortable because of a moderator. That's something we feel strongly about. If you ever do feel free to contact Ted or Rosemary or Me.

Thanks so much, Dave, for taking the time to clarify the situation.

The fact is, for some of us, a little "history" does exist from the C4 Forum days. I'd really hate to be posting here with my shoulders hunched, just waiting to be zapped if I'm even perceived to breathe the wrong way!

You've set mine and probably a few others' minds at rest

I do believe I'm now able to envisage reaching my VIP status around here.......
