I've missed bits of the show...obviously. And i know they call freddie "halfwit", but why are they called these names in the first place?

Sophie the blonde one(not Scottish).They were all non-housemates and BB set tasks for them to be come full housemates .Freddie and Sophie had to change their names to Halfwit and dogface to become full housemates.It's a lame idea.
