Mazzy for you too.
My mum and dad loved c & w too, in fact their music was all from a long time ago.
they loved Jim Reeves, there is an advert on at the moment for an album of his music.
always makes me a bit sad but happy at the same time when it comes on - I can hear my parents singing along in my head

and Sacrifice by Elton John was played at our nieces funeral, she was only 15 'Some things look better baby, just passing thru' I always well up when I hear that line and wonder what she would have been like if she had the chance to grow-up

When my dad died a few years ago, I bottled everything up and emotionally I was a bit broken cos I loved him so much but one night I was in the pub (with a really good friend of mine, a girl thankfully) when 'Everybody Hurts' suddenly came on and I just lost it and broke down. My friend was holding me tight and a barmaid who was watching came over to comfort me and she was crying as well.
It's a song I shall never forget .

Look at it this way mate. That song was often misunderstood. 'hold on.'
Seasons in the sun, Terry Jacks. Always brings a tear to my eyes...
it's a beautiful song.quote:Originally posted by Lord Lucan:

Jealous Guy by Lennon. Again for the video; 'I was dreaming of the past' and it show's the Beatlemania era fab four. That get's to me big time.
sound by james, not in a sad way but it makes the hair stand on the back of my neck.
Thanks shirehorse and Jenstar .

I don't know whether I should admit this but Rolf Harris 'Two Little Boys' gets me every time
Me too...
Also, 'Sweetest Thing' by U2 - it's the single one of their songs that I like but it was on the Radio one day when I'd just had a miscarriage and at the line 'I can see blue skies' I looked up and there was a rainbow and it was a poignant moment.
Bridge Over Troubled Waters - Simon & Garfunkel, it was playing the day I had to take my beloved dog Bruce to the vets to be put to sleep. Tears are welling up now just thinking of it.
Old Shep - Elvis Presley don't know why, just does.
Honey - Bobby Goldsboro, I find it so sad.
Paint It Black - Rolling Stones. It was a favourite of my husbands. I went to a gig some time after he died, and they played it prior to the band going on. I stood there in tears, and feeling a fool.
Lullaby - James.
Country Feedback - REM.
There's loads when I start thinking about it. Music plays a huge part in my life.

Sounds really corny compared with what everyone else has listed, and it's more of a hymn than a song, but "Be Still for the Presence of the Lord" ALWAYS makes me cry.
My mother-in-law heard it on the radio in the early hours of the morning just after her husband had passed away. We played it at his funeral, and her's a few years later. It's has wonderful words, especially "he comes to cleanse and heal" which always comforts me when I think of what he had to go through before he left us.
Sorry if this sounds a bit soppy but I felt I wanted to share it with you.
