Too cloudy in Glasgow,though typically it was sunny an hour before and an hour after. However it did get quite a good bit duller for a time during the eclipse.

Yes, it was a weird kind of light.  Eerie.

they're great Cinds - I wish I'd had the specs.   We were out on the fire escape with 2 sheets of A4 with a pinhole in one, like a primary 1 class...  

 

Amazed at the amount of nutters in the car park screwing up their eyes and looking at the sky though...

Unbelievable Kaffs, it's not like nobody mentioned it's dangerous to look directly at the sun. 

 

I imagine the BNP were up in arms 'bloody moon, coming over here stealing our sun'.

we took the dogs upto barr beacon

really high up there

when we got there it was packed

packed full of beardies with telescopes

even the police were there!

 

lisa stood with a bloke with a HUGE telescope (make your own puns)

i took the dogs for a walk

when it hit it wasnt that dark but really noticeable..and its a bit spooky up there at the best of times

I looked straight at it. .didn't mean to. . had forgotten it was happening and just thought it was a cloudy morning then got a reminder about it so went to look for the sun.. sky was completely covered with cloud and I had no idea where the sun was in the sky and suddenly a less thick cloud came over and I could see the eclipse through it with only a teeny bit of the edge of the sun showing..  so it flashed at me for a short time and then was gone again as thicker cloud came over again.. my eyes seem ok and twas a lot less bright than the light they shine right in my eyes when I have my retinal scans ..

 

Actually got a scan next month so if I accidentally damaged my eyes by looking straight at the eclipse I'll find out then I suppose

We had sunshine with the occasional fluffy cloud so quite good here 

It went darker than it had been and the birds went silent 

Very much a non event here. It got a bit grey, that's all, and it's like that most days!!

It was warm and sunny in the,then it went very chilly and a bit gloomy not all that dark though, it was like a works outing as we was sitting in the park opposite work as the shutters wouldn't go up, 4 bloody hours we were there

It was hazy sunshine in Swansea but the sky didn't seem to darken much. The loss of light wasn't as dramatic as the one in 1999 [saw that in Dublin]. That was proper scary 

They've just been explaining on "Stargazing Live" that their plane flying above the Faroes lost communications contact at the crucial moment! They still got the footage, though, and it looked amazing!

I was late into work this morning and saw it at home, but one of my colleagues who's seriously into astronomy set up a pinhole display in the works car park.

However; another colleague was telling me that most of the people milling around in the car park were looking direct at the sun! Most of them have degrees in science or engineering too - utter madness!

I tried the "pinhole and paper" routine, but I've never been able to get it to work too well and I hadn't left myself a lot of time to experiment. In the end I resorted to the method I used at the last partial (for me) eclipse: I dug out my table mirror (by luck, one of those rotating ones with a magnifying mirror on one side), taped paper over it leaving a space big enough for the sun's image and projected it onto the garden wall - it was really effective!

I didn't see too much of it. I was still in bed   Having said that, my bedroom did go darker than usual at one point
