We all have this but I've noticed mine is slightly different

Or are moods changing amongst us Brits?

Out for a meal today

I noticed people finishing their meal and then walking away from (sometimes) one hell of a messy table.

Do you think its part of the staff's job to clear up after you?

I can't leave a messy table and the staff look busy enough - and probably on minimum wage.

So I always clear up our table and return our mess to the check out area.

I can't bear to sit there and be served - and, yes, I know that's what eating out is all about but I think it's only right to assist somehow.

And I have to push every chair in after we leave.

What do you do?

I never leave stuff on the table of a self-clear restaurant/cafe/McDonalds, and I try to make things as easy as possible for waiting staff to clear in restaurants.

It's just not the thing to do - scrabbling over cheap stuff !!!

There are some people in this world that have to. That remark is condescending.

Reading my previous comment you'll see it's something I do myself

My point is only that's its uncomfortable and something we would all rather not do ... it's a British thing I think
