I have been thinking this myself for a good while now, and I think a few others have too; friends of mine, my family, and people on here... One of the reasons is the uber-stupid storylines that they keep feeding us. I picked up this link on MSN that pretty much says exactly what I - and believe many more - have been thinking for ages. The soaps are losing the plot!

Soaps biggest blunders and silliest storylines.

One of the most stupid just lately - IMO - is featured there; Molly and Kevin Webster. One of the most badly thought-out and ridiculous soap 'romances' of the decade. Even Max and Stacey had 'some' plausibility. Max may not have been at the front of queue when they were handing out good looks, but he is charming and manipulative and smart and charistmatic, and he says all the right things. Much more appealing to many women than 'looks.' And Stacey was a lost little girl looking for attention and love. But the romance between Molly and Kevin came from no-where and was just plain daft IMO. The two of them together was laughable and incredibly unbelievable. Whoever thought of that storyline needs sacking!

The Dawn and Phil one from EE is pretty daft too and is also there, along with Dirty Den's return, and the most stupid soap storyline EVER that killed Dallas; Bobby Ewing turning up in the shower and it emerging that the previous year (or was it two?) had been a dream of his wife Pam's!

And before anyone says anything; I KNOW I don't have to watch! And I am pretty sure I WILL stop watching EE AND Corrie if they don't improve soon. Frowner I have watched Corrie since 1977 and don't wanna desert them, but enough is enough. It's has not been brilliant for about a year now. EE even longer!

I haven't watched Neighbours since 1992 Joe, and stopped watching Brookie around the same time. Have tried to watch Hollyoaks but it seems to be aimed at 15 to 21 year olds IMO, and I have never watched Emmerdale or any of the others. Only Corrie and EE,

Hi Darlo. I think EE AND Corrie have just got the most daft storylines and think they are both pretty dire at the mo. I have only watched EE once a week for about 4 weeks and frankly aren't missing it. And for the first time in 32 years of watching, I don't care if I miss Corrie. The writers need lynching from EE AND Corrie IMO. I mean come on Kevin Webster and MOLLY wotsername, and Dawn Swann and Phil Mitchell!! PURLEASE!!!!!!!! Can't comment on any other soaps coz I don't watch them.

And the Gumbo thing.. Christ on a crutch is that best they can come up with?

Poor Emily tonight in Corrie, she does deserve a bit of happiness that woman but they go kill Ramsay off ... unbelievable - who here WOULDNT want to see Emily with a nice man in her golden years ?

Bit boring really but these things make me happy, i can't stand to see lonely old people, even if it is a soap! Makes me cry!

I know what you mean Maz - went out for lunch the other week to a place that does nice reasonably priced food .... .four tables had old men on them eating on their own. Now... the waiter chatted away and it was obvious it was their habit, and they may well have been perfectly happy, but it made me feel so sad!

I agree with everything you said but makes no sense in Mollie and Kevin. Shes only just got married Eeker and was a shit to him when he worked so hard for her perfect wedding. She was really nice before she lost weight.
