Now I am sure that on Question Time a few weeks ago someone asked this question and a conservative MP said NO .

Perhaps they were being pedantic.
They choose their words very carefull don't they?
If they say "We have no plans to raise VAT" it could mean "we will raise VAT but the plans have not yet been drawn up." Sometimes it's what they don't say. not what they do say.

I was talking to my next door neighbour today who is a conservative voter she was saying about the heating bills and bus passes for pensioners she is not happy, I have not had the news on today so I dont know whats going on can only assume there must be some truth in it, definitely would not put it past them
