the mantra repeated with nauseating regularity n forums, only works if being yourself, and being true to yourself and just being you, is by some one who happens to coincide with your view of the world?

No. This view doesn't apply to those who belong in asylums Ninja

No, just in some cases.

I like HM's being themselves and not playing up to camera like some do (Sophie, Charlie) but that doesn't mean you have to like them.

I love the way you do not include your own favourite in playing up to the camera... the one housemate with such vanity in front of the camera - as soon as he saw his promotion picture he insisted that it were changed. Wink

Damn! Mad

OK, be yourself, but only if you have a personality that is in any way tolerable to a civilised society? Glance

Ripping up the diary room to make us all go "Yay, yay!"? Laugh

So in that case anything any of the HM's do is playing upto camera, we would never trust anything they did in that case.

He is being natural, it's very clear.

Sopie fake drunk, Charlie...well...fake everything, is clear that is false behaviour.

Obviously if you have a nasty streak a mile wide, it's not good to 'be yourself'

I can name some despots to prove the point, if you wish Ninja
no,no,n.

Well, his excuse was that he thought it would entertain us, but if it was just him being himself, then that's a bit odd really! Laugh

Because he understands that it's a TV show and there was nothing of interest appening in the house, that is one situation you mentioned, doesn't mean everything he does is fake.

I've liked some HM's who I would never be friends with on the outside and others I wanted out of there that I thought were lovely genuine but dull people in the BB house.

You have to separate what sort of people youwant to see and (or) win on bigbrother compared to who you like as people.

Is it that people judge others on how they themselves would be in certain situations, whereas we are all different and react differently? Confused
oh you ae fasr deeper than me , i was just making a cheap point about the laudable qualities of being yourself, as expressed on bb forums and yet when some is , and is proved to be, as bea was and is, she's pilloried for it.
s it's nly acceptable if you are 'nice' or wn up to beng unpleasant and vow to change wh you are, hence not being yourself.
