You must make sure that they have the correct code. They will tax you PAYE I assume. But at the end of the financial year you may claim some back depending on earnings.

usually you fill one in when you register, at the same time as you give your bank details etc

that's because they are the spawn of satan. it works along the same lines as grabbing tax off you the minute you leave the house to go to work, but making you wait until the following april before letting you grovel for a rebate
