Ditty, you have described it perfectly....OMG, I am actually snorting
with laughter now, he's looking at me wondering what the hell I'm
laughing at
I think I'm losing control
Yep if my OH sleeps on his back it makes his snoring worse. He's also overweight, has a thick neck and smokes. Cripes I am fooked! I elbow him and tell him to turn on his side, he's so used to it now that he does it and I can usually fall asleep again before he falls onto his back again. I would try that old remedy of sewing a wee ball into the back of his Pjs but he doesn't wear any so I;d have to sew it to his back. Hmmm.....that's a thought!
Mr Kaytee sounds like an express train in a tunnel mingled with strangled cat and wild boar.....I always go to bed before him...in the hope that I get to sleep before the concert starts.....If he wakes me up I give him several sharp jabs...and if that doesn't work, an almighty kick before I decamp to the spare room

some snorers (like my hubby) are multi orafaced snorers..

Oh stop it you lot. Do stop it..I don't know why Kaytee but that additional "I always go to bed before him" did it for me!

Oh, he never smokes around me! Mind you, he could just breath in and save the money.
Snoring is annoying and cos its loud and random it always wakes me up...like yapping dogs in peoples yards...kill kill KILL!!

There's nothing worse than hearing his padding up the stairs....and thinking..'Oh hell, I'm still awake'
Hmmmm, my OH fell to sleep on the couch on Saturday, I was just about to wake him to come to bed when I had a brainwave....I left him there and told him in the morning that I had been shaking him to wake him up, but couldn't....**snigger**....one decent nights sleep for me.....poor bugger woke up about 7am freezing cold
I could still hear him through the ceiling though, thought the roof was gonna come off and I'd wake up in the Land of Oz...

My cat snores - I have banished him to the spare room.
my dog snores too... he sleeps under the bed directly underneath me... often him & hubby work as a team.... as one exhales the other does a snore... then vice versa...
thats the point were I just lie thinking "I give up!"

Thats one thing- my OH sleeps as silent as the grave.
My darling Oh doesn't snore, he just breathes.
I should have said loudly.
the worst thing is when I give him the shin kick and he half wakes... then turns towards me (I am of course facing away from him... it was a donkey shin kick).... and cuddles into me making all lovey noises... then 2 seconds later resumes snoring again... RIGHT IN MY EARHOLE!
I know how you all feel! Mr Pink is a terrible snorer, in fact before I started losing my hearing I used to hear him snore upstairs through a shut bedroom door and when we lived in a flat it was even worse!
I have tried everything to stop him snoring, waking him up, taping him snoring because he wouldn't believe it was as bad as I kept saying it was, the strips to open your nasal passages and nothing works. At one time I could go into the spare room and get a nights sleep, but now my niece lives with us, that is her room, so I either end up sitting up until he gets up to go to work or taking over the counter sleeping tablets! The problem is that for the last week he has been between cars (finally got one today) and not at work so he has been sleeping later and my nights have been more and more disturbed. Oh well he'll be back at work on Tuesday next week and I'm sure I could plead temporary insanity and get less jail time!!

Sounds exactly like Mr Pink, but he also likes to take the duvet with him as well!Reference: DiD
Mine'll be heading to an early one if he doesn't do something about it!!!
It's good to know I am not alone.

I live on a main road and can only sleep now if the gentle lull of traffic goes past! But my OH could snore for England and I only get any sleep if I fall asleep before he's come to bed. If I wake up during the night I have to sleep on the couch or crawl in with one of the kids
How does Steve not wake himself up with his own snoring.???
Aw Pengy... used to be the same for me... thats what would pish me off so much... it was his snoring, and yet it was my problem.
Eventually it came to a point where I said I needed the spare room (currently full of clutter, a laptop & printer graveyard, an office) setting up with a bed so I had somewhere to go. He was dead against this idea and twice he has got up and come down and slept on the sofa (I know he slept... cos he was snoring again within minutes.... didn't bother me though... I was assuming the 'middle of the bed make like I am a sprinter' position).
The thing that has made the huge difference now is his response when I nudge, kick or shout at him to stop snoring... before he would shout "FFS" or similar.. which would then just add to the anger... . now he mumbles 'sorry'.
Its improved things a lot

Interesting Pengy. You say you can sleep if there is traffic noise.
The original idea (taken from something Nathan said) is that some noises can help sleep, while others can hinder.

I feel I must thank every one of you who have contributed to this thread.
It has been enlightening, but perhaps more importantly it has given a great deal of pleasure.
Thanks to all of you.

Omg what an hilarious thread! Sorry, I know it's not a funny issue, but I am laughing out loud here. I did wonder why they didn't nudge Steve so he rolled over (that's what I do to Mr LB) but someone mentioned that might be difficult for him.
Also I like the distant hum of traffic and remember being in a cottage in the middle of nowhere and it was soooo quiet it was difficult to sleep!

I dare hardly say this...but here goes..
I notice that almost all the examples are about "Mr OH".
Nothing about OHs problem with self.

I understand Brisket's point - I haven't however had the time to read everyone's comments - believe me I will!
Regarding the main word 'snoring' I could swing for my husband, I really could! Intermittently, he grinds his teeth too! I do personally find I'm lulled to sleep with a comedy programme for example (hubby will sleep/snore thro' any.) Hence when we we go abroad or visit his Mother and there's no TV I'm lost! It's weird and horrible!
hubby however, does tend to cling to me every night in order to sleep so he 'snorts' right into my ear! I have learned to kick, poke, nudge jolt - anything in fact to shift him but he turns and grinds his teeth! Night times are a battle - luckily, I don't work right now and I do try and 'shove' him over to his other side but it's a losing battle.
I do think and have suggested he loses weight btw - but he's fine - apparently, my Ar*e, he really does need to lose weight!

Oh yes, I remember having that problem, on holiday in a remote house in Italy.I'd finally get to sleep and then be woken up at five in the morning, by a loud cock!

That's because I don't snore. Apparently I breathe so quietly, sometimes the OH has to check I'm not dead
Brisket... My OH could sleep through anything... and says my snoring (which he says I don't do very often) doesn't bother him.
the odd time in a morning when he has woken up first & I have been snoring, he finds it amusing to do things like hold my nose (or worse ) so I get a rude awakening & find him in fits of giggles!
If I grabbed his nose when he was in full snortathon he's probably take my arm off!

The OH sometimes snores, and when he starts I cannot sleep through it. It's been known to wake me up, however fast asleep I was. When that happens, either he or I (usually he) has to go and sleep elsewhere because once he's woken me with that racket, I can't get back to sleep again because my nerves are jangling, waiting for the next snort.
Yes, this is my life- especially the jangling nerves bit
Make sure you get to sleep before the OH
Mr Lee snores loudly and imo sleep deprivation as a result of snoring should be deemed grounds for divorce or as a recognised defence for murder....Not that I would consider the latter.
