I'm not very good at snaffling
Long story - a bit boring. A sort of friend of mine (didn't know her that well) opened up a tea shop in the village - ot was really lovely and very successful. There is this gobby woman/girl who has a child in my Harrys class. After my friend had been trading for a couple of months she was giving it all mouth about how she was going to open a coffee shop and show her how it was done blah blah etc. She bought a property (listed building) only about hundred yards away. It really is a very small village not big enough for one tea shop really let alone 2.
A hate campaign against my friend started .......all local council stuff/rumours and general nastiness - she even tried to run my friend over. This went on for well over a year (the other shop still not open as it was having massive renovation and there were awkward planning laws etc. It came to a head when someone complained to the council about a once a month Friday opening (pudding club) - my friend had to stop her Frdays and reapply asking for support in her application etc.
I put in a post of support on the website and said something about it being a shame about malicious people making trouble etc. etc. I didn't realise my post was on a public 'forum' type thing.
Anyway this womans husband rang me on a Sunday morning telling me that this was the last straw - she'd been slandered/misunderstood etc etc. He planned to take my friend to court for slander/libel and I would be called. It really upset me as he said it wasn't her that had complained and she was in tears.
In a way the hatred had sort of turned around.Ironically my friend sold the shop(to one of her employees) and bought a shop in the next village where she lives.
Just before Christmas the other woman opened her shop- it is really beautiful and she is phenomenally successful. Now when I look back I'm not sure if everything I was told was true and me and lots of others became embroiled in something that had nothing to do with us.
Both shops still trade surprisingly although my friends old shop is much,much quieter now (I feel really sorry for the girl who bought it).
I'll post an FB link to the new coffee shop. I've never shown my face in there as I'm too embarrassed although the girl has said she's forgiven me.
Long boring story I know but it really upset me at the time and Mr Woo went mad at me for getting involved

I'm here, it's easy done though isn't it, you try and help and it turns on you, I don't blame you for not going in the shop I don't think I would either
