I do the fag ash lil look instead and leave it on my mouth.. but does mean I am smoking less. .tho maybe that's just me deluding myself  also I go thru a shed load of lighters too

My Mom and Dad smoked roll up for years and they always used to moan about them going out if they had to use different papers. They always used 'job' papers, they come in a double packet. When ever i've smoked tobacco if it ever dried out too much it was too harsh, my mom used to put a little bit of potato peel in the packet/tin to damp it a little if it was bone dry.

labour shoulda banned smoking in lounges

but not the bar

i smoke

im pissed off with standing in the cold when i want a fag

I'm an ex-smoker - but agree with all that!  I feel smokers are really persecuted now - I agree there have to be smoke free environments, but smokers should have somewhere they can go.

Yes they do.

Spain votes for tough smoking ban

The new law tightens restrictions introduced in 2006 by forbidding smoking in any enclosed public space

Spanish lawmakers have voted to approve a tough new anti-smoking law, meaning that from 2 January, bars and restaurants will be no-smoking zones.

Smokers will also not be allowed to light up on television broadcasts, near hospitals or in school playgrounds.

The bill, proposed by PM Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and his governing Socialist Party, was passed in the lower house by 189 votes to 154.

Bar and cafe owners fear the law will adversely affect business.

When I visit Alicante the Hotels and bars are all non smoking .

But they make provisions above and beyond!

Yes, there's no smoking inside buildings, but there's loads of sheltered, well equipped areas too (i.e. screens and heaters) and they're not some naff afterthought.  Loads of areas for smoking immediately outside of Malaga airport too.

My point is, they haven't taken on a gestapo attitude about it.

They've facilitated smokers way beyond anything here in the UK.

And the non smokers don't moan and whinge about it.

Yes, one of my fav places ( for a good t-bone) has a lovely covered in dining area for smokers and then the main inside is for non-smokers. But on the plus side, whenever I'm down there, despite the time of year it's always pleasant enough to sit outside.

Yeah, the weather does help but I like that it's not just a seasonal thing; it's all year round.  AND the smoking areas are part of the building and not some scabby shack for social pariahs.-

Cosmopolitan

smokers are persecuted, they are made to feel like social pariahs...   I was increasingly embarrassed about being a smoker...     but I have to be honest..  I never felt angry at being made to feel that way, cos I didn't feel that I was in the right to smoke.

it kills you..   end of.

if it was still socially acceptable then I would probably still be doing it.

The only time I have been tempted to smoke since I quit 7 months ago was in Egypt, where it is still socially acceptable to smoke and everyone is doing it everywhere..

So I am glad the trend is to make it more & more unacceptable..    and sorry if that upsets some of the still smoking peeps..   but in a way I wish it would upset you enough to quit..   cos I am bloody fond of some of you, and I don't want you to die..   like me mum did 6 months ago, and my boss did (also from lung cancer) 6 weeks ago!

so there!

*disappears back into the real world to carry on celebrating the dogs first birthday!
