Well I have just been to see the new James Bond film Skyfall in IMAX.

Wow, is that screen massive!!

My first IMAX film and I liked it.

As for the film, well I can't really talk about it too much unless you have seen it because there are some surprises and I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

But despite it's 2hr 23min duration I enjoyed it and think Sam Mendes has done a pretty good job as director. I'm sure I've seen a few nods to previous Bond films, but then again it is the 50th anniversary.

I was a bit amused by Javier Bardem's hair colour. It looks a bit like a home hair dye job!

It does feel like the writers are trying to make it more a story driven film than an over reliance on action. In fact at time I felt they were trying to put a bit of distance between the style of the older films and this new, albeit in baby steps, although they can't have a Bond film without a large dollop of action and you get plenty.

Sean Connery is still my favourite Bond... just.

Oh I nearly forgot, the Bond theme. I was not too struck by the Adele tune when I first heard it, but once I heard in the context of the film I thought it better than my first impression.

I will be buying it as I own all the Bond soundtracks and I am a completist!

The rest of the soundtrack was pretty good and written by Thomas Newman.

He'd sooooooo get it

Glad you enjoyed the film EC...   my brother in law is off to see it in iMax on Friday.

I look forward to a leisurely watch of it in my front room, whilst sitting on the sofa & dossing on the laptop...     I think I might have to actually go & see it at the cinema though, as my hubbies terms for taking me to see Breaking Dawn Pt 2 in a few weeks

Thanks.

I would go to see it with your hubby, not only do you get to see Mr. Craig 600ft in size (me exaggerating a bit) but they are showing the trailer to the new Breaking Dawn Pt.2 film.

Go on, have a nice night out with him.

that ^^^  is a class bit of persuasion you did there!

my arm has been twisted....   hubby owes you one!

(I won't tell him about the Breaking Dawn trailer...   it will lead onto the "you are not going to squeal loudly in public & embarrass me" lecture )

(even though he can't resist muttering "Team Jacob" under his breath when he sees it...   he is soooo gonna change his mind when he sees the film HAHAHA)

 Excellent.

You two have a great evening... and no squealing during the Twilight trailer - lol

I love IMAX. If you get the chance to see a 3D film at one, jump at it.

I've mentioned it before, but I took my parents to see Avatar at an IMAX for my Dad's birthday. Whatever you think of that film's merits, it was made to be seen in 3D at an IMAX, and the impact when seen in that format is quite stunning. At the end, the girl sitting next to my Mum just turned and said "WOW!", which pretty-much summed it up...

As to Bond: normally I'd have seen it by now, but RL has got in the way. I love Bond, and am a big fan of Sam Mendes, so it's really a matter of "when" rather than "if". I'm trying to make plans to see it at some point next week...

I have not seen a film in 3D IMAX as yet, I will try to do so when a film I want to see is shown in 3D IMAX. I must say that I am not a fan of 3D though as I think it's more of a gimmick and generally lends little to the story being told. Also after about an hour I tend to get fatigued and a headache ensues! But I will give it a go as I say above.

What is RL ?

Given that you are are fan of Bond and Sam Mendes I think you will enjoy this film. The critics seem to be lauding it as the best Bond ever, but as with every film I would make my own mind up.

Some good news for the film is that it seems to have spanked Harry Potter's bottom at the box office for first week takings as the biggest one week gross in UK to date. The best headline on that story is "Skyfall beats Harry Potter at box office after 007 days" - clever.

I'm considering going again. I know a friend who has not seen it yet, so there is my excuse!

Go on, get yourself out to the flicks.

Takes a lot to get me to the cinema, it has to be something I really really want to see, so there's no chance of him getting me in there to watch James Bond.
