Just a quick bit of information for you. My colleague got onto Sky and negotiated his package down to ÂĢ28.

What package is that I here you say.

Everything (not including internet or telephone, just TV).

If you are paying more than that I would get yourself a discount.

Is that for movies, sport and everything please EC ?

Yes, everything. and HD too.

You have to be a bit brave as he went in saying that he could not afford Sky anymore as he was paying a lot more and leaving was a serious option.

They threw in a couple of options, but he said that his neighbour has the full monty for ÂĢ28, if they did that for him, he could just about afford for another year.

They bought it.

To be honest Kaffy, I have never had Sky and never will. I don't like the organisation and how they try and buy everything in sight. Also, as an aside, I would not want the temptation of 24/7 365 viewing options.

But, I am not adverse to helping existing customers get a better deal from Sky.

I'm with you on this Kaffs.  I might sound like a dinosaur on this but if I want to see a film, I'll hire one from a rental shop.

Even if I ignore the Rupert Murdoch aspect,  Freeview is good enough for me and I don't think I really miss out on anything that would justify a subscription.  Failing that, a book will keep me from being bored.

It also seems to me that the more channels you have, the more narrow you viewing range is.  Many blokes just sit in front of football match, after football match after football match, when they have Sky.  Likewise if music videos or reality TV is your thing, then you can fill your viewing up with those.

You probably have more in comment with EC than me, Carnelian... I don't have Sky but I do have Virgin.   Just a basic package though, no films or sport or such like, I don't have the attention span to watch a film but I do love the TIVO box.  I set to record series that I like and watch at my leisure.    I really wouldn't want to give money to Sky though,.

I just have Virgin broadband and I use Freeview like Carnelian. I find that most of what I want is on there and for any films I want I either go to the cinema or buy the blu-ray.

We have the basic entertainment package, I think we pay ÂĢ24 a month for it, but I'm not sure. A discount would be great!

We just left the sky broadband in favour of bt, when we first enquired about better service with sky they "couldn't help" us but as soon as we signed up with bt broadband, they wanted to give us loads of better deals  out of principle, I decline them

Since I posted this I have discussed it with other people in the office, surprisingly one person has bettered my colleagues deal.

How about this then - All channels, HD, multiroom all for ÂĢ20 per month !!!

It also transpires that if you know someone who works for Sky they can get friends and family deals which are very similar.

The bottom line is that if you can take the time to talk them down and throw in the BT threat, they seem to back down and prefer to keep a customer on a low subscription.

Again I would urge all FM's who are Sky customers to save some cash and drive a better deal for yourselves.
