Judging people by their looks before they have even spoken, subtitles came on during BGT showing himself saying and things have got worst when a lad (overweight) came on with a girl, then the Susan Boyle moment happened and Simon thought he was the bee's knee's  i hope he get's slated for this, the lad was only 17 and by his look's Simon didn't rate him but as soon as he  sang you could see the pound signs in Simons eye's

I hope The Voice beat him in the ratings

I just caught the end of this when I switched on as I got home Aims, from what I heard the lad did have a good voice, (and, of course, a lot of great 'classical' singers are on the large size.) Shame on me, I assumed it was that new 'voice' programme where, as I was given to understand from what I'd read on here, they 'hear' but don't 'see'

Know what you're saying about Cowell, but surely everyone knows now that it's a 'zleb machine' to line his coffers? Maybe the lad should have thought twice before going on BGT? Or maybe he did?

Was it any good Rawks? (I planned to watch but my journey home ended up a 9, rather than a 4 and a half hour job, thanks to a flat tyre and a trip around several v unhelpful 'Kwikfit fitters' around the Lincs area!)

It was actually refreshing to have only talented audition's, and even the ones that got rejected were really encouraged. The competition between the judges/coaches was quite amusing too.

Oh and also no Ant and Dec, which is always a plus

I blame Lincs for your flat tyre by the way.

Ah, will have to try and watch on catch-up. I never did 'get' BGT with all of those dancing dogs and suchlike...

Yeah Lincs is rather 'flat' geographically speaking, however Kwikfit fitters in both Newark and Lincoln are v deserving of my wrath today. Since when was 'kwik' Monday when I'm trying to get bloody well home on Saturday Humber bridge was v pretty at sunset 'though but

I thought the voice really did put BGT to shame... Not only were the judges more talented and credible than that lot on BGT, but they didn't humiliate those that didn't go through... They gave them positive comments, ITV seem to have this idea that viewers want to see people humiliated and those that audition go into meltdown, personally I don't find it amusing at all... Especially when you see the same faces over 4 years back there to make a fool of themselves again. I also liked how on the voice, their backs were to the contestants so they didn't know what they looked like... They could only judge on what they heard.

MrMincePie

I am loving that you lot are loving the voice over BGT because they don't ridicule & humiliate.

I can't stand the ridicule & cringe of BGT & X Factor... its why I don't watch them...  I just don't enjoy it.    I'd (wrongly it seems) assumed most people did enjoy that side of it.

I too enjoyed The Voice..  & love that people that used to watch BGT & X Factor did too

Dirtyprettygirlthing

I liked The Voice - although I only dipped in and out of it, so haven't really got what's going to happen.

I do like X Factor, and I love the early rounds. I don't think the truly awful contestants take themselves seriously - they want their 5 minutes, and this is their way of getting it. Win-win all round.

BGT just leaves me cold - but each to their own. It's probably good family viewing and that is what a Saturday night should be about.

I just didn't like the way Simon Judged the lad before he had even said what his name was  i don't think he did feel very confident about being there, he said he wouldn't have had the nerve to do it if his friend wasn't there with him, so what did Simon do, tell him to get rid of the friend and sing alone

There are some wonderful sunsets in the Humber Bridge area - a lot of people put it down to the permanant glow from the Humber Bank Refineries and the like - personally I don't believe that - we do have lovely sunsets around here most days though.

Cheers for posting that Blizz - what an amazing voice.

The thing is - it's all done for the ratings - I'm pretty sure Simon Cowell has complete control over the edit - if he didn't want to be seen like that - he wouldn't let his snidey comments be aired. He knows how it worked with Susan Boyle and he's confident it'll work again. He is an arse as far as I'm concerned - he knows he's an arse but doesn't care because it's that 'sometimes contrived' image that brings in the publicity and more importantly the money.

He gets more and more irritating every time I see his face TBH.

I thought it was just me.  BGT was shite, and wholly predictable.  Like X factor, it has had its day.  And yes, I was saying to my hubby, they ARE trying to make the 'Susan Boyle' happen moment again.  The fat bloke who gets all insulted and the gay male couple they took the piss out of turned out to be amazing.  The stupid power ballad kicks in; Adele or fooking Westlife!

The judges on the VOICE were more pleasant: and I agree that there really is no need to be rude and horrible.  That said, I don't particularly like the show, or its format, and Jessie J got on my norks. I just found her irritating and I hate the way she sings.  And apart from Price tag and domino, I don't like anything she has ever released.  I don't think she is qualified to 'judge' others, but that could be just because I am not a fan of hers.

But yes Cowell is an arrogant wanker who is full of himself and thinks the world revolves around him.  Even Harry Hill and little known (but very talented) Darren Criss from GLEE, turned down offers from Cowell.  Not as important as you think are you, are you, you tosser?!  I used to think he was quite cool, but he pisses me off now.  And so does BGT and X factor.  I really should stop watching these programmes, but because I have always watched them; it's hard to stop.    Maybe I am hoping it will improve.  I really do highly doubt it though.

LOL!    Tell you what pissed me off, apart from everything everyone has said in the posts above: the way the horrid Chavvy audience BOOED the one contestant purely for being GERMAN.  How racist.  Would they have booed if he had said he was black or asian, and said he is a Muslim?  No.  But racism is acceptable in this country when it's aimed at a white person.

Yep it sure did Mr Mince.  Here it is on youtube.  The bit where he says he is from Germany, is at about 1 minute and 38 seconds... and the boo was from quite a LOT of people.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-6cj2XYnAs

I was pretty disgusted actually, and thought, as a nation, we were past this kind of behaviour.  Like I said, if it had been a non-white person, it would have caused an uproar.  I thought people boo-ing him for being German was pathetic and racist and showed what a bunch of horrible chavs were in the audience.

Simon did ask them to stop, but still, it was disgusting imo.  I have no German roots or heritage, and no reason to defend the Germans, but no matter what race or colour someone was, I would consider it a disgrace to BOO someone PURELY because of their nationality or ethnic origin!

Here is a feature on it, and part way down it, it says he was booed when he said he was German.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvs...iant-gold-wings.html

It says: The performer ignored an unkind boo from the audience when he said that he was from Germany- and Simon shushed the crowd, saying: 'Hang on, that was a long time ago we’re friends now.'
