Order's just arrived. Everything seems to be there. 1 pack of brown rolls substituted for 1 pack of white rolls - I think we'll live!

Do they not send you a "Delivery Note" in advance detailing substitutes, EFFT? I always got one when I was ordering for the parents (with ASDA), so I could warn them in advance if there were any changes from what they expected.

I remember once getting a note to warn me that instead of an 8-pack of wholemeal rolls, we were going to get two packs of 4:

Bummer, right?

These uncertain times bring out the best in people and communities, I live in a small village but there is a “emergency response team”  set up at the beginning of the lockdown, all volunteers , who delivered a notice to all 900+ households offering help with shopping, collecting prescriptions, gardening or just a friendly phone call. A local veg production company delivered a selection of veg to all vulnerable households. I hope this community spirit continues after the lockdown is reversed.

Hope you are all well and making the the most out of what we can.....

I know I have learned what is important to me, enjoying what I thought was mundane, and I am lucky the birds are still singing for me.....but that bliddy squirrel keeps stealing their nuts and digging in my pots....

I have felt that 'peace' feeling too Baz.....I think many others are feeling it too..(I hope they remember it and carry it forward into the future).

It is a very sad and worrying time.... but...........The Birds will still sing tomorrow.

 To you all......xxx

It really helps that it's spring and the birds are singing, doesn't it? Just imagine what this would be like if we were dealing with freezing temps and snow/rain.

Lets not imagine Lori please ....xxx

The two blackbirds are nesting again round the back. He's some singer. Timid but birds of habit. He's got a dawn and dusk perch on a fir. Magic.

We had a pair of Blackbirds that visited us for two years past, I remember them because the Male had a 'wonky leg' he has gone now, but I swear his partner visits and other sit in a tree looking down waiting for us to go in and shut the back door to nip into our garden for dinner..........I still miss wonky leg tho...

Eight years ago, I rescued a male blackbird which had become tangled up in some netting over my plants. He returned every Spring with his “wife” and became quite tame, even bringing the babies to the kitchen window ledge to ask for his raisins. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen any sign of him this year....yet🤞🏻
Another pair have been visiting the garden and the male sings beautifully in the mornings - love hearing the dawn chorus when I’m awake at stupid o’clock.

I love hearing these stories, Yogi and Syd!

I volunteer for a Wildlife Rehab center (unfortunately, no volunteers allowed at the moment), and most of the animals that I care for are birds, along with bunnies, a skunk, turtles, raccoons, and squirrels. (We also have baby bears and a young cougar in our care, but those are above my "pay grade"!) I'm particularly sad not to be there now because they are preparing for baby bird and baby squirrel season, and I AM ALL OVER THAT ACTION!!! I just got an email from them a few days ago: they are hoping to be able to schedule my training in May, and then my entire shift will be feeding the babies!!

Also, I have three bird feeders outside my office window, and I am pretty regularly distracted by the activity.

There is something inspirational  about birds and wildlife in general, that makes OUR struggle at the moment fade ......xxx

We have magpies that nest here every year...…  and raise young. We knew (for several years) that it was the same pair every year because one of them was lame. He/she is gone now, but we still get Magpies raising young every year.....and yesterday I saw a robin!

I absolutely agree, Syd

We have a LOT of robins here.

And chickadees, house finches, hummingbirds, juncos, and spotted towhees (those are the ones I can identify). And bluejays, which are the loud and obnoxious kids of the neighborhood.

Lori

We had a bird feeder in the front garden (so we could watch from the lounge) but no visitors, moved it into the back garden and it is a magnet to the birds, mainly blue and great tits, sparrows and blackbirds picking up the droppings,  one young blackbird sat waiting for the worms my husband kept giving him when he was digging the garden ( husband not the bird!)
