Gray the Dwarf Campbell hamster died peacefully in her sleep yesterday, at the unusually ripe old age of three.

Yep, she was a cheerful, energetic little bundle and the last survivor of our four dwarfies. The other three were boys, lived in their own bachelor pad separate from her (or there would have been more!) and none of them made it to 2011.

She was still stuffing her face with dandelion leaves and broccoli right to the end.
We noticed she had suddenly got rather gaunt and doddery in the past week or so, so we knew it wouldn't be long.

It's true, they really make their presence felt. It's already feeling strange and too quiet without her busy little presence in the corner of the room.
I don't feel too awful though, because it's rare for one to live as long as she did.
We "may" get another one. Not more dwarfies though. Not this time.

My daughters on holiday and I'm looking after her guinea pig who'll be six in November. I'm dreading anything happening to her while my daughters away. The sister guinea pig died eighteen months ago!

Not so bad now,because she was suffering. Rio meanwhile is back to his old self,so hopefully I'll have him for a while yet,though at 7 he is a geriatric bunny.
My wee Jake , golden hammy is doing fine that's him 9 months now...go on get a fat Syrian.
Just watch where you buy them from though..no more wet tail sorrow.

My gerbils lasted for a year at max, it stopped me getting anymore little furballs of any nature except the kitten variety, as i hate it when they depart.

I still have bad days, but not so much now, when my Tilly Cat got poisoned at 4 years old.
Still we now think of her fondly, and have her 2 adorable kittens, who are not kittens anymore. lol
Oh dear Deman I know, it's sad when they go. By what I've read on here though she had a good life with you.

..I found the dwarf ones a bit aggresive, Allen was one of those big fat ones, he'd have his run then go back to his cage himself when he was hungry....
What a shame even if she lived a long and happy life. it's never easy to lose a tiny member of the family xxxx

A Syrian with the classic ginger and white colouring.
Very big ears and large, bright eyes.
Got him yesterday afternoon and he's settling in well.
He might change his mind about that when he realises he's called Huw
