I would never be described as shy. Never .

I'm shy if I'm with people I don't know or who I know only a little.  I can't speak in front of strangers without ending up with a beetroot face

 

In my group of friends I am far from shy but that's where I'm most comfortable.

I'm shy but ppl wouldn't know because I turn into a chatterbox to hide it.

I'm like that too. I can't bear awkward silences and babble for England but ........I am quite shy.

 

 

Actually - I'm not sure if I am anymore ......I used to be but I'm not so bad as I was.

As a child, I was shy and lacking in confidence when confronted by new people or situations. I still am, but I am better at hiding it nowadays.

I'm relaxed and quite confident when I am with people I know and like.

I used to be shy to the point of being a selective mute when I was younger - now I'm always getting myself into trouble for not shutting up 

I can be quiet at times and it's possible it's been mistaken for shyness as sometimes I wonder if they can come across as the same, not sure about that  I'm not quiet though when with friends, I enjoy conversations that cover many subjects - I think women are best at that from my experience, they can easily hop from one subject to another

 

I am not for one minute going to challenge your assertion, but when I read your post I immediately thought "I wish YR could eavesdrop on they type of conversations me and my friends have when we meet". Our conversations also bounce around like a pass the parcel full of excrement. 

 

I'm a bit like that YR.  I tend to like to sit back and listen to people in social situations.  I don't like being the centre of attention   And sometimes I'm thinking....I'm not talking a lot here and they must think I'm a miserable sod

That's good to hear EC my experience of men's conversations is that they seem to revolve around sport, pubs and cars lol

 

No cars, no pub talk.

 

A bit of sports but mainly film, music, the arts, girls, work, a bit of family and our aspirations.

There can sometimes be one in a group who enjoys being at the centre lol, it's better if the group all has something in common with the others and has a chance to get a word in lol

A crowd of my guy friends met every Saturday ,I call it their talk shyte night .

I'm not shy but sometimes feel a bit self conscious, but that's mostly because I can be clumsy and suffer from foot in mouth syndrome. I've learned to accept it and laugh at myself

I am incredibly shy when I think everyone might be looking at me. I even made my wedding to have the least amount of people there.
