and I am going to do a  Croc too. .four or five posts into this thread  someone starts attacking the OP for no reason other than they don't like what they wrote. .ie a question was posed not a statement.. then more pile in with attacks. .

sort yourselves out,  tis ridiculous. .or step away from a  thread if it gets on yer tits.. you know a PP thread will be contentious... then to attack another FM [who hadn't even entered the thread at that point] but then when they did was pointing out the obvious bad behaviour you've displayed is foolhardy... makes ya all look like a bunch of bullies and validates PP's opinion that she is ganged up on.. well done peeps..

And well done to you Mount!     For the funniest post of the week!!!

Do me a favour!  PP continually starts threads and puts posts on here, to deliberately provoke and cause a stir, and incur peoples' wrath, and she knows it.  She constantly puts provocative posts and threads and then cries off that she is being 'bullied' and picked on when people call her out on it, or challenge her posts.  She can post all the provocative and inanely wacky threads and opinions that she likes, but coming back and whining that she is being 'bullied' is pathetic.  She needs to grow up.  And the PP protection brigade, who make out that people who call PP out on her provocative posts are 'Vile Jellus bullez,' are laughable.

And the investigative team led by 'Wolfie' (who is another one of those posters that only mysteriously only posts when they want to attack someone they're suspicious of,) is hilarious.  'Is she new, is she not, is she new is she not?'    Seriously, why do you care?!  Wolfie and the crew have probably been trawling through posts going back to the beginning of gaga, to see if they can find a poster that has a 'similar posting style' to me.  LOL.  Some people have way too much time on their hands.

Cupcake, as you obviously know this why do you continue to go into her threads and moan about it?
Surely if a poster makes you feel like that, and you see a thread started by her/ him you just do the grown up thing and stay away? Don't even bother opening it to read it?

LOL, the 'if you don't like it, why do you watch it brigade?'

You're missing the point.  I couldn't care less if PP starts controversial and provocative threads.  My point is that she starts them, knowing FULL WELL that what she says will offend people, then calls people vile jellus bullez, if they dare to challenge her posts.  I said PP can post all the crap she wants, but the fact that she plays the victim when people attack her posts and don't agree with her,  pisses me (and many other people) off.

Funny you should mention that, there are a few Btw, who is Wolfie?

EXACTLY!  LOL!    Who IS Wolfie?

Some mysterious poster who felt the need to try and 'prove' I was a new poster.  They don't ever seem to post much, but  somehow felt the need to come into this thread to post a link to the 'new posters' page in an attempt to 'prove' I was a newbie.   Just hilariousThat must have been their mission for the week.  What an exciting life they must lead.

By the way, 'Wolfie's' post (the one I was referring to,) is on page 4 of this thread, about halfway down the page.  And yes, I wonder who Wolfie is too.    I have a bloody good idea though, I can tell you that much.

Can't say I've ever seen her call anyone "vile jellus bullez" tbh. I have seen her retaliate towards people who get personal with her rather than argue about the topic.

Whatever rocks yer boat I suppose, but it seems a bit petty to be moaning about the content of her threads when nobody forces you to take part in them. If it means I belong to a "Brigade" fair enough... but if you don't particularly like the content or the poster why bother going in the thread?

[1] Exactly so if it pees you off so much why read the thread

[2] Nobody said they were "vile jellus bullehs". .read the posts properly. . I said it could give PP ammunition and back up to her claims that she is being bullied..

if you don;t like her stuff. .report it. .leave it to the mods to sort out..  and I am not a PP apologist but am very much against people trying to Police the Forum the way they want to and speaking 'for all'

I think PP is a WUM or an alt ID of someone who likes to cause trouble now and then... she can be a proper pain in the butt and does say things to try to provoke people [intentionally or not I dunno nor care] but the rules are to not respond but to report if you feel that strongly about something. .personally it makes me giggle most of the time at some of the outrageous stuff. .plus occasionally if you read around the forum police posts there is often a good debate going on..

and at least I say what I mean with my own username and don't hide behind a 'new' ID

a good question, my soldier son lives in germany (and has for several years) and has learnt the basics along with his wife, when my family visited we bought a phrase book beforehand and learnt (from a friend) please/ thank you's /ect   My son also learnt some iraq ( but this was mainly "bomb" "gun" "fire"     I live in an area where there are many eastern europeans and there is an advert for a nursery nurse level three however if they speak polish they don't have to be qualified!    can take this two ways - polish toddlers don't need qualified carers  because they are second class toddlers or polish toddlers and parents don't have to speak the local language

Well said, Olly.

Personally, I couldn't see anything particularly offensive or provocative about the question posed by the OP and, if it had been posted by any other FM, people would have joined in the debate and nobody would have batted an eyelid, in my opinion.  But when it is PP's thread then, regardless of what she is saying, it seems as if some people almost feel obliged to launch an attack.

I agree. Pity the thread has taken a turn.
People may vow that they will not learn a language, but even with those intentions they can't avoid picking things up from that language. It happens naturally. You can't coccoon yourself completely.
I think those who try to avoid in an academic setting are probably not helping themselves.
It's nice to hear people making an effort with one's language. I find it endearing and sometimes flattering.
So, in return, I think it is nice for me to try to help the person who is unfamiliar with my language.

I have a friend who has a job which entails meeting a lot of lorry drivers from all over Europe. Some of those drivers, I am told, use ignorance of the language to try to evade the rules.
My friend is a great one for communication and will even attempt drawings and models to convey something. He will also ask how to say a particular word in a particular language.
When he comes to use that learnt word he is delighted by the relief of the foreign driver that somebody has made an effort. It can be fun as well as practical.
Good communication is 2-way. It would be a shame if that doesn't apply to different languages as well.

Olly - that comment wasn't aimed directly at you mate, it might have looked like that as it appeared after your post but it was just a general comment on the way these threads go.

yeah I kinda realised that Veggie..

I  just wanted to make my position clear  tho cos I was shocked to read the attacks almost from the get go [some deleted now] and a tad jaded with the same old stuff.. and I certainly ain't in with any in crowd as slimfen seems to think those that commented on the digs are. [edited to make clearer 'ish] .I am my own person.. with my own mind..

I also posted my own contribution to the debate part as well way back too

oh and I agree with what Karma said

shit does that mean I am with the in crowd now

I edited my post cos I realised it could read that you thought I thought you were referring to me personally.

anyway it's obvious that you ain't happy with people that had a go at those jumping on PP from the get go.. or maybe you feel a bit bad about your instant reaction to the thread hence deleting your early posts. .I dunno. .but whatever has got ya goat don;t take it out on me

If you look back at other threads the OP in question has made I have stayed out of them, whether I disagreed with her or not as I know she to be a WUM. On this occasion I did not like what I read & told her so, it is my choice in hind sight to delete as I decided I really didn't want to be involved, as there had been quotes of what I said it seemed pointless to carry on deleteing hence some of my posts are still there.
I am not taking anything out on you but you were the one that made a point about my deletions, stating one thing or the other to which I replied 'Neither'.
As far as I am concerned my point made at the start I stick by but am now closed on the matter!
Enjoy your day!

I agree with slimfern and Garage Joe, the word 'compulsory' was a bad choice.

I have relatives living in countries all over the world. Some of them have moved around several times during their working lives, to three or more countries, and taken dependants with them. They will have learnt useful phrases and picked up some of the languages, just by living there, but none of them will be fluent in those languages and would certainly not have had to have been fluent before they moved there.
