Late in on the act............
We have a great problem with languages in England because English is pretty much becoming the universally accepted means of communication, so we English (note I do not include Irish, Scottish or Welsh) are pretty lazy when it comes to learning other languages.
Circumstances have to be considered as well.
If I can use myself as an example.. my hearing is pretty naf now so I can't pick up other languages as easily as others. Does that make me ignorant or inconsiderate if I were to move to another country?

Leccy xxxxxx LTNS, hope you're well.
Thanks for the translation, I thought it might be summat like that but wasn't sure. We already have the daughter of the couple who ran the notorious Wyns (or Wins) bar on the Costa Del Crime living in our block so I'd be grateful not to have anymore of that ilk around.
Mind you, she's fluent in English, Spanish and Welsh!

I fink Mr Joe might be suggesting that if Spain made it's immigrants learn Spanish as a rule of law, there may be a lot of Brit crims sent back 'ere.

Some of them aren't very nice, I'm told.

Ahh ok - well if these are people that should be in prison then they should be returned and made to do their time.  We also have to remember that it would work two ways as well - we have some "not very nice" characters living in this country who I'm sure we would all be happy to see returned home.
