And 'do' christmas from now on? bearing in mind the fact that there's no tree or decs up, no cards written, no food or booze bought(that said, I've been invited to my sis in laws, I've only just found out tonight) and only got a handfull of presents in.

Eh? Go missing where? From here? Sounds like you've had a result regarding Xmas day grub - no stress no fuss, just turn up, shove it down the gregory, drink and leave.

Go and hide behind the River Cottage thread
Give yourself up to the festive spirit, you know you want to!
I agree with Karms ... turn up on the day, throw a few pressies around, eat their food, drink their drink and go home.
Don't bother with the tree and decs (saves taking them down later)!!
Get some treats in for yourself ... result

You are never too old for "this malarky!" you like it, I like it, mrs Joe likes it twice! (with apologies to MP)

Treat this year as a bit of a malarky practise
Course you will Sprout.... trust me... I've had enough *big birthdays* to know...... As for getting to old the *this malarky*..... depends on the malarky

So........it's all in how we deal with the 'malarky' ?

Preferably not
Practise Pamula ... you should have perfected it by the big day
I'm completely lost but Pam all I can say is, kick back, chill ya beans, only aspire to live to your own ideals and expectations, no-one else's. But remember to give yourself a break and spend time being totally selfish and doing exactly what you want to do.

Karma come here.....I need to whisper this....
sprout go and do it. It's not a good time of year to be alone even if you don't like Christmas. March up there armed with your laptop and a few pressies and you'll be just fine
Ooooh am I on a promise?

How did the boiler/roof go?
Get the bloody tree up woman!!!
Sprout, whatever. Go to your invitation, take lots of presents, enjoy Christmas.
You still got loads of time Sprout. What's the hurry? I've been spending far too much time on here instead of 'getting on' but ..........this weather is depressing me. Went out to my grandsons school play yesterday but you're still taking your life in your hands - the pavements are treacherous. I've been walking in the road (when it's safe to do so).
Today is marginally better (I think) so will venture out later. Apparently more bad weather on the way though
