The worst thnig about viewing on my lappy is jerky scrolling
It won't roll like you see on cheaper iPhones - disappointing 
I'm using IE8
Any suggestions how to improve it?

Tbh I was always a FF user and didn't like chrome either (mainly cos this site isn't chrome friendly) But having made the change, I soon got used to it and it is noticeably quicker than FF which in turn is quicker and more stable than IE.
With IE9 i think you have to be user vista or higher and, a decent mouse is always a sound investment 
try Ccleaner too off filehippo; that'll speed your whole system up, especially if you defrag your register.
