Can you ever find out when the leading prizes have been won even though the cards are still being sold?

my son won £2...  the rest. - not a sausage!



I am flabbergasted sometimes when I see people buying huge strips of them...  costing 30 odd quid & the like!

they never look like the sort of people that can afford to throw that kind of money away either.


Don;t get my wrong...  I do have a couple of quid a week on the Lotto..    but scratchcards - nah

Have bought one or two but they are a mugs game, although some people win big. I can imagine them being very addictive, i have seen people buy loads, wish they would take them home to scratch tho!
Yes Velvet, if you go to the lottery site it tells you how many winning tickets left etc  x

I do admit to buying a couple a week and often win one to five pounds. I normally play with my winnings though and know my limit

I remember catching a bit of a programme about the lottery a few years ago, and if I'm right they can actually tell which region in the country those winning tickets have gone to by the reference numbers

dont buy them... mum bought me 20 of them at xmas as a stocking filler.. got about 15.00 back on the lot.. waste of money

I have never brought one, but I always smile at the pensioners who spend almost £25 a week on them while pleading poverty.

I normally do that at christmas as stocking fillers for about 7/8 of us. I end up buying about £14/£16 quids worth for everyone to have two. We have had a fifty pound winner in one of these

Personally I don't buy them & am surprised by the number of OAP's in my local post office that seem to buy reams at a time !!

I always buy them for my kids' Christmas stocking. I put them in an envelope with a picture of Santa on the front and a speech bubble which reads "if you win, don't forget to share it with your lovely family".

Pondlifes adopted brother (his Mum took in another 13 year old boy, when my ex - Pondlife, was 13, and raised him, to all intents & purposes he was his brother)...   when this brother settled down with a girl, she lived with Ponds mum too...   and they stayed living with her when their first child was born.

He won 7.7 million on the lottery.     First Pondlife & his mum knew about it was when I told them, having heard about it on the grapevine.      They were a bit surprised they hadn't heard from them directly..   but then a big envelope came through the door...    with three envelopes inside it, addressed to Mum, Pondlife (obviously real name),  and the older brother.
 
Inside Ponds Mums envelope was a cheque for £100, inside Ponds & his brothers was a cheque for £50 each!


There are no words for some things that happen really!

My envelopes are my insurance policy in case they do it to me ... plus, I would tickle them to death if they tried

If I am brutally honest Rexi..   I can understand why the sister in law may not be right keen on Ponds mother..    I wasn't either.   

But that doesn't mean I wouldn't have done the right thing and sorted her out with enough to make a little bit of a difference to her life.

As the older brother said..   it would have been better to have not given anything, than the fifty quid! He gave his fifty quid to charity

I never normally buy scratch cards... but funnily enough when I was down my sons last weekend I had a £1 change from something I bought so said give me a scratch card..... i won a £1, so no harm done...

Is it just me or is this new game on the lottery programme incredibly confusing?

@ Ditty.  There really is nowt as queer as folk. You would have though he might have shown a bit of appreciation for all the years that Pond's mum looked after him.

Brisket, I buy a lottery ticket but never scratch cards.

is that the x5 game, I've stopped doing it, I never seem to remember to check the numbers throughout the week,  I've never every bought a s/c, but had quiet a few in cards etc.

& I totally agree about the x5 game..   I did it last week & this week...   its good in that I every day I think "oooh...  might have won"..  bad as in its a headache checking the results.

I have decided I am going to just get my ticket checked at the shop when I buy my weekly ticket.


I used to do it online, but cos of the sticking t key on my old laptop I failed to login correctly three times..    and then got a snotty message that I had to phone someone to unlock my account!   Only time I will be phoning them is if my numbers come up!

I don't do the lottery scratchcards but I did one of those ones you get free in magazines - it told me I had won something from a selection of about 50 prizes.

So I phoned a premium rate number, much to the annoyance of Mr G, and was told I'd won a trip to France.

The trip was for a single ticket only, one way, no accommodation and didn't include the journey on the ferry.
