Darken the Davis Cup team? He IS the Davis Cup team!!!

But he lied to gain English support by once claiming that he is a proud Brit, he was clearly lying...Don't like the guy now...he wont be cheered when he comes back to Wimbledon next year.

I don't like him now ...and didn't before ....not even when he won Wimbledon

I agree tho that he is entitled to his opinion, but don't con the GBP in the process, which is what he did.

I think he was always a nationalist.

He lied because he wanted (needed) support from us English at Wimbledon, that's where im angry with him...if he is a nationalist that's fair enough, but be a man and admit to it, stand by it, don't con the GBP.

He even went as far as to say that when he won Wimbledon and Alex Salmond waved the Scottish flag that it wasn't nice and he didn't think it was right for Salmond to do that...clearly he supports what Salmond stands for in reality...Murray has been lying to us all along.

I never said he doesn't have an opinion, I just wish he'd stick to it, be open and honest about it, which he hasn't been doing until just before the polls opened.

I don't really agree with some of the posts. The guy is a tennis player, he isn't a politician. We've all made daft comments in the past. I had a lot of respect for him as a person when they mocked him and his chick, when they were in the audience on a particular televisual comedy programme. Not withstanding tennis as a sport is a crock of sheight and doesn't particularly have any meaning for me.

I have to sleep with a mask over my face every night to keep me alive for a bit longer so no, none of this is worth it, but in the scheme of things it's still interesting and maybe even important to get involved.

Disappointed that Scotland didn't tell the Westminster cosy neo-lib establishment to sod off.

Scotland will regret passing up on this opportunity.  They had an opportunity to ditch the Bullingdon club.  I hope they're happy when Boris Johnson's their PM and Nigel Farage is deputy PM.

I think it's a shame Salmond's resigned.  He has a been an excellent leader for the SNP.

Indeed, but I can see this country going down a blind alley and the Scots would be well out of it.

The country is increasingly becoming a nasty right wing dump where the rich parasite on the poor, while the popular opinion is the reverse.  A country run for the rich by the rich where landlordism and predatory capitalism reigns supreme, where the TV schedules are full of class hate and deflection from the real freeloaders.

I am starting to hate this country and its establishment.  I see little respite in voting Labour either.  All the decent communal values since the war have been eroded by self service and the rich man's propaganda.

I am disappointed that Scotland chose to stay under the yoke of English neo-liberalism.

The thing is though that the current ruling Westminster clique is merely a blip, and it will pass.

Here's something that occurred to me recently and it came as a shock:

Do you realise that when Ed Miliband took over from Brown in 2010, it was the first time since 1976 that all of the three main party leaders were English? And apart from a 4-year period from 1988 (when Ashdown succeeded David Steel) and 1992 (when John Smith succeeded Kinnock), there had always been at least one Scottish party leader since 1976...

IMO, this is just one of several "lucky breaks" that Salmond got with the timing of the referendum. Any other period in the last 40 years, and he'd have had a much harder time picking on "Team Westminster"...

Yes, the ruling Westminster elite might be a "blip" but our lifetimes and those of our children and even our grandchildren are also a 'blip'.

The only legacy Cameron was worried about was his own.

If there hasn't been a global environmental meltdown before, in 200 years time our machine overlords might have slaughtered us all, so there's no point in assuming that the next 200 years  is going to be a carbon copy of the last 200 years.

Cameron asked Scottish people to think long term when capitalism is ripping the resources from the planet like there's no tomorrow.

Globally we run the world like there's no tomorrow, so why ask people to think contrary to the way the world is being run?

Of course as long as people think that the Labour Party, or indeed the Tory party, is something you vote for, rather than belong to they're in trouble. In my day the Labour Party relied on subs and Trade Union support. The Tories had assistance from the twinset and pearl brigade. Now peepil would rather do something else. With such a crisis of hegemony the two parties increasingly rely on multinational sponsorship and dance to their tune. I don't know much about the novelty parties although we do know that Murdoch supported Salmond.
I still don't understand why FMs are banging on about "Scottish" and "English"
Wacky little nationalists!

Jolly well said.  I know Salmond isn't everyone's cup of Earl Grey but I thought he was gracious and dignified in defeat

I always find this an interesting talking point, I mean how concerned are we really about the planets resources?

Shipping food and drink products around the world, enjoying a house full of electronic gadgets made by people on low wages in countries with serious human rights issues.

We still like to take holidays involving flights around the world (for some many times a year), how many inefficient vehicles are on our roads?

One could question the environmental impact of holding large scale sporting events involving people from around the world.

Then there is the Internet. Switch off your computers now everyone as there are many server rooms hosting racks and racks of computers and they are there just to serve out Internet lust.
