The guy is getting right on my nerves. He's mouthing off getting all his points (or most of them) across and the minute Evan Davis tries to ask a question Brand talks all over him.

Then Evan starts a new point and Brand goes "ask your question", the second he starts to ask, Brand starts talking over him again.

This guy needs to learn how to have a debate. Question / Response. I think he is too used to being on stage listening to the sound of his own voice.

He's not winning me over one bit.

I prefer the term to Mr Nudge     who must be up there with the most terrifying characters of all time like John Wayne Gacey, Fred West and Leatherface.

Brand is spot on!  He's right to talk over Evan Davis. The reason he's right, is because you won't get ANY of those arguments from anyone in the political establishment.

Labour are cowed by the monied self serving establishment, as are the BBC.  Many in Labour and the BBC are happy to jump where the money is.

People like Davis are so used to talking the language and received opinions of the Westminster village and the money that they don't know any other way of perceiving things.  The agenda according to the Daily Mail, Rupert Murdoch and the money.

That's true - they haven't a scrap of integrity most of them.

That's it in a nutshell. You may use it should you wish.

If 1/100th of what he criticised was moderated, the system would be better for most.  Let's be honest, it's hardly as if neo-liberalism serves us better than any other system.  So humanity can't find a system that's better than one that is so inequitable that just 58 super rich people have more wealth than a billion people.  Really?

Capitalism in its current guise is about the worst system we could possibly have.  It is hard to think of a worse system that manages to fail billions yet is so voracious in depleting the Earth's finite natural resources.

Take Richard Branson.  He intends to pump tons of black carbon into the upper atmosphere just so the super rich can go to space for no other reason than an ego trip.  The cost of him of polluting the upper atmosphere will be met by the plebs, yet he is lauded as a 'wealth creator' for squandering our Earth's finite resources on the elite 1%.  Personally, I hope his rocket explodes and it wouldn't bother me if he were in it at same time, either.

I think Russell talks a lot of sense,I think there is  a there is a desire to do a bit of Russell bashing because he brings elements of humour into his arguments, many people, particularly American journos, and chat show hosts, mistakenly think that he is far less intelligent  and astute than he actually is.I like to watch him wipe the floor with them, in much the same way that I like George Galloway making mincemeat of the grand jury.

He doesn't offer solutions, but he  does encourage others to less accepting of the status quo.

Not having solutions does not negate knowing that some thing is wrong.

Michael Parenti sums up my view of capitalism nicely.

“The essence of capitalism is to turn nature into commodities and commodities into capital. The live green earth is transformed into dead gold bricks, with luxury items for the few and toxic slag heaps for the many. The glittering mansion overlooks a vast sprawl of shanty towns, wherein a desperate, demoralized humanity is kept in line with drugs, television, and armed force.”

I didn't see his appearance but I know he is a pretty intelligent guy, tho I don't like the way he puts his message across when I have seen him,,

if he is knocking those that at least are trying some solutions but, doesn't offer any of his own just words, then that is wrong too. . At least some may be trying instead of just shouting about how bad everything is..

but I admit I don't know the context was just following the discussion and noticed the mention of him not offering any solution which I think is just as bad so, ignore this waffle if I am off target
