I think I can top that: when I signed-in this evening, I was greeted by an advert for a money-transfer company in Hindi

Ultimately, though, I'm with slimfern: I'm happy to put up with adverts if it means sites remain free. My only real concern is what personal information advertisers can get from me...

I guess tbh...if it keeps the sites I use, free! ...then I can ignore them

This is the fact that sites are "Free" adverts..

I can just about tolerate ads online if they keep sites free but tv ads I've no patience for, or interest in. The ad breaks are also far too long! I'm sick of all the insurance ads...and NO Michael Parkinson, I'm not signing up just to get a free pen!!!

Car adverts are a waste of time, you learn nothing about the car except it speeds along roads not used by anyone else!!! Perfume ads are ridiculous, I don't know any women who act all sultry and seductive just because of a perfume they're wearing. Shampoo and hair products are misleading, all that shine is caused by studio lighting and all that thick flowing hair is thanks to extensions. Beauty products said to be anti ageing and produce a flawless skin...well all the models in the ads are too young to have those problems. During ad breaks I try to find another channel but it's hard as they all - apart from BBC - seem to time the breaks for the same time hoping we realise there's no point in trying to evade them.

Everything you said.

I always go do something during the TV ads. Toilet, drink, sandwich, brush teeth, put PJ's on, iron shirt for work... you get the idea.
