Oh and through my work (in a round-a-bout way) i met one of the children that killed James Bulger.
I don't think I could knowingly stand in front of someone like that, especially knowing what they did to that little boy, and not try to give him the same treatment as he did little James.
I've been thinking about this since posting in this yesterday (I deleted my personal stuff) I think suitable punishment for convicted (and proven) rapists and child abusers is for them to recieve the same treatment as their victims, except on a daily basis for many, many years. Put them under the same fear, the same feeling of helplessness. Let them gain an understanding of what it
really feels like to be put in that position.
Mental torture is worse than physical torture, and that's what these bastards need. I take my hat off to psychologists who try to 'work' with these people, cos I know that's a job I could never do. I have no desire to know why a rapist does what he does, or why someone finds children sexually attractive, or why someone beats the crap out of a toddler or a baby. I just know that if I knew one of these people was living on my doorstep they wouldn't be there long. Yes there's the argument that once they have 'paid their debt to society' and are fully rehabilitated in the eyes of some professional (and I wont go into the amount of stories of re-offenders) , that they should have the right to live a normal life. I dont think they do. I think if they are to be released into any kind of civilisation, that they should live in some kind of bail hostel, where they are constantly monitored, every move they make is watched, not some curfew rubbish, but for them to live like a prisoner for the rest of their days, never knowing any peace. Cos their victims dont. What these bastards do stays with their victims forever. Why should the culprits be given the chance of normality?
