On the subject of weird names for things...we used to have a CTO from New Zealand, and he taught us all kinds of things about different words. We had major discussions about crisps, chips, and crackers...

One of the weirdest differences I have come across is that what Americans call 'graham crackers' we call digestive biscuits!

You beat me to it, I once followed a recipe for cheesecake, I thought graham crackers were Jacobs cream crackers, so thats what I used. Nod

It is as yuk (I'm in agreement about the yukkiness) because it's the same thing (I believe) just that we call it marmite ( Sick ) and they call it vegemite. ( Sick )

And, even though we wear hose (pantyhose), we also water our gardens (and yards Wink ) with a hose. Smiler

Salad cream is more like Miracle Whip.
Have no idea what miracle whip is, but Heinz Salad Cream was the only thing of that sort that I knew off when I was a kid.

Miracle Whip is fake mayonaise like salad cream. It's a brand name in the states.
