It's sad to think that celebs have more impact in this country, but I think politicians should concentrate on connecting with the public and increasing people's awareness of politics first. Umm, I don't think that's a good idea in every case, but in this one she has done a lot better than anyone else has previously. Personally, if it gets the subject onto the political agenda then what's the problem?

The subject was on the political agenda long before she decided to jump on the bandwagon and the comments she came out with yesterday have yet to be confirmed. I object to an elected Government being held to ransom in this way, although I agree with the cause of the Ghurkas, just not quite like that.

I meant that she has raised the awareness of the case and therefore pushed it further up the agenda. Anyway, I'm just pleased for the brave men who fought for our country.
