Thought they might.....I know he's a criminal but I'm sure *some* right on people would have been up in arms if they'd let him die in jail.

Not a lot to say to that..'cos I don't think he'll be with us much longer..
Fantastic news. About time.
I would rather him out in the community than some of the low life scum that get a slap on the wrists in this pathetic PC ridden judicial backward country of ours

Jack Straw has accepted recommendations on the grounds that he's basically being released to die.
Hear hear! The man's hardly a threat to society..........quote:Originally posted by Bovrilking:

Fgs they should have done it ages ago, it must have been costing a fortune to keep him there! He's not likely to re-offened is he, he can hardly sit up let alone commit another crime.

I know he did wrong, but these days folks get away with doing a lot worse, our law system needs a HUGE shake up..

Doesn't make sense to me one bit, the guy should have been released after his stroke.
Great news!
Fantastic news .
Doesn't look as though he'll get out of hospital though as he has pneumonia.

True...Take a look at the gits who get a slap on the wrist by the courts then set free to continue and get worse.

how on earth is it good news - because of him and his gang an innocent man was left in pain for the rest of his life - and he also escaped most of his sentence - so really he ahs just got off with it!!!!

fair point - but I'd rather they just built more prisons!!
I just can't help but spare a thought for Jack Mills, the train driver, who suffered constant trauma headaches for the rest of his life due to assault during the robbery. His life effectively devastated.

He is low-life scum, who appears to have got away with it.

Lots of prisoners die in jail, what makes this guy any different??

exactly!!!
Well, given that they have been asking for it on the grounds that he's been at deaths door for a couple of years now perhaps he'll get on with the job so we don't have to read or see any more about this odious little man.
If Biggs had been able to see into the future, he would have served his time and not gone over the wall, & instead of living the life of Riley in South America for so many years and he would be free as a bird now

I agree He only returned because he couldn't afford health care in Brazil ....i think he's been pretty well looked after since his return - albeit in prison. did he really expect not to seve time?
I am pleased that he can spend his last days with his Family but as soozy said, he only came back here for health reasons...if not, he would still be elswhere sticking his two fingers up

He is being released on compassionate grounds as he only has a short time left to live. He has hardly got off with it as he has served over nine years for his part in the robbery (which is more than many people serve for murder). The government has had it's pound of flesh, in my opinion, and I'm glad he is being released.
